Looking for a new Patient Access Team Member to support HOPES expansion! 

The purpose of the Referral Specialist is to support patients and staff in the coordination of care to outside specialty offices and services.

The Referral Specialist assists the clinical process by ensuring prior-authorizations and referrals occur in a way that expedites the patient’s care.  A Referral Specialist processes referral, makes and answers patient and specialty office phone calls, assisting and directing callers to successfully complete their referrals as ordered by their Provider.  This role provides linkage between clinical services and external specialty services.

Northern Nevada HOPES is a community health and wellness center serving the Northern Nevada area. We are a non-profit community health center located in a historic and quaint area of downtown Reno, Nevada. We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The mission of all FQHCs is to provide excellent health care services to otherwise under-served populations. We accept most insurance plans, Medicaid, Medicare, and the uninsured. For the uninsured, we offer discounted services based on a sliding fee scale.

We are a National Health Service Corp site, and our providers are eligible to apply toward a federal NHSC Loan Repayment Program.

Position Requirements

Due to real and potential conflicts of interest that exist when HOPES Behavioral Health providers render services to their coworkers, it is HOPES’ policy (Policy HR0005) that HOPES employees may not access HOPES Behavioral Health Services. For the same reason, current Behavioral Health patients/clients cannot be employed by HOPES. Accordingly, you hereby acknowledge and understand that if you are receiving services from a HOPES Behavioral Health provider at the time you are offered and accept employment with HOPES, you have the option of rescinding your acceptance of employment or finding a new behavioral health provider outside of HOPES before starting employment with HOPES.

 

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English peferred.
  • Experience utilizing busy phones and multi-tasking required.
  • Computer literate with experience utilizing an Electronic Medical Record required.
  • Proven ability to maintain professional conduct, including appropriate boundaries, required.
  • Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with all team members required.
  • Able to communicate and listen effectively required.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory/outpatient care environment and clinical workflow processes preferred.
  • Understanding of insurance requirements and referral, imagining, prior authorization and medication refill processes preferred.
  • Formal training in a Medical Assistant Program with one or more years functioning in that role preferred.

Salary Range $20.50/hr - $22.75/hr
