Director, SQFI Financial Planning and Analysis

Description

Primary Purpose:

Provide financial management of the SQF program to guide the program towards achievement of annual financial budgets and goals. Responsibilities include daily financial management, budgeting, contract management, etc. Provide financial insights that helps the decision-making process and aligns capital and resource allocation within the SQFI budget.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create and manage the SQFI budget to maximize revenue, achieve financial targets and identify potential areas of cost savings.
  • Accountable to manage cost center budget(s) within assigned revenue targets.
  • Manage all business-related relationships with certification bodies, training centers accreditation bodies, legal counsel and third-party vendors.
  • Collaborate with SQFI management team on development and execution of financial strategies both domestically and internationally.
  • Lead ongoing reviews of business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement and make recommendations for optimization strategies.
  • Conduct market analysis, analyzing both the product lines and the overall profitability of the business.
  • Responsible for interpreting SQFI’s business results and trends in its financial databases and financial models. Create informative, actionable, and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analysis and projections for incorporation into the SQFI strategic planning process
  • Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of SQFI business decisions.
  • Develop business scorecards and create metrics that support SQFI’s strategic business objectives to drive sustainable results.
  • Develop and monitor data quality metrics to ensure business data and report needs are met.
  • Streamline existing processes for sound business opportunities.
  • Document and communicate the results of your efforts to cross-functional team members and management. Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.

 

Other Job Functions:

  • Support sales team to create marketplace revenue opportunities and financial incentives.
  • Use financial modeling to simulate financial scenarios.
  • Oversee the work of team members responsible for ensuring that all invoices are processed in accordance with FMI’s Accounting processes and procedures.
 
Position Requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment requiring use of typical business equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, etc.).
  • Ability to travel (locally and out of town) to select meetings and conferences as needed.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of seven to ten years of relevant work experience at the management level in a similar role or related field
  • MBA and/or a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related field.
  • Experience preparing and managing an event/program budget (to include knowledge of general accounting principles).
  • Ability to understand and use database software to process and maintain information.
  • Strong time and project planning skills with the ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with strict attention to detail while meeting various deadlines.
  • Ability to work with various colleagues across the organization as well as external vendors.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-motivated with an ability to work under pressure.
  • Must possess a natural analytical and conceptual way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to others.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills with a proven track record of delivering on commitments.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and sound commercial management skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Computer proficiency with an understanding of and ability to use Microsoft Office products (including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) certification is a plus.
