Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Medical Compliance Clerk ensures medical records are maintained in a manner compliant with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the medical services system. Is responsible for a variety of tasks including collecting patient information, issuing medical files, filing medical records, and processing patient admissions and discharge papers. This position ensures that corrective actions are taken to ensure compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and contractual obligations.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Retrieve, collect and analyze all request for medical records made through the organization, patients, and affiliates.
  • Verify legitimacy, accuracy, and authority of all such requests and then process and invoice as appropriate.
  • Abide by, adhere to, and conform to all applicable organizational, local, state, federal regulations.
  • Review, develop and implement standards and procedures for processing medical records requests with administrative support.
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of applicable policies, processes, laws, and regulations.
  • Report breaches, instances of non-compliance, patient complaints, problems, or similar instances to supervisor in an effort to protect patient PHI.
  • Participate in improving quality throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School Degree or GED required.

EXPERIENCE: Two years Medical Records experience (Preferred); Experience with Migrant Populations (Preferred) and 21 years or older.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.

LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial

harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations Pecos Children’s Center with such frequency as the business need dictates. Operational needs may require occasional evenings or weekend supervision.
