SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Landscape Technician will be responsible for all owned Opportunity Village properties landscape maintenance, restoration, and design. This role will build and maintain gardens, parks, and other outdoor landscapes. The duties include ensuring plant growth, cleaning agricultural areas, and trimming overgrown plants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for landscape maintenance, restoration, and design.
  2. Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on equipment required for grounds keeping.
  3. Support in maintaining the appearance of grounds and ensure all trash is picked up around the properties and parking lots.
  4. Operate hand and power tools in a safe manner.
  5. Trim overgrown limbs, hedges, and remove debris.
  6. Uphold landscaping designs and ensure plant growth.
  7. Install and cultivate functional and ornamental vegetation.
  8. Prune shrubs and small trees; remove weeds and dead plants; assist with mulching.
  9. Identify and treat for potential pests or diseases to maintain the health and growth of vegetation.
  10. Primary advisor on creating and implementing a landscaping plan for Magical Forest while collaborating with the Director of Events and Events Managers
  11. Perform manual labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  12. May be required to load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles.
  13. Work is performed outside and in various weather conditions for extended periods time.
  14. Assist in the salvaging of native vegetation.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager.

 
Position Requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong knowledge of pest management and landscape maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Basic technical writing skills.
  • Must be able to operate maintenance equipment including lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a landscaping or grounds keeping.
  • Required: Valid Nevada Driver’s License with a clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years
