SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will perform various tasks to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of Opportunity Village grounds and structures. This role will perform both general and preventative maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform general building maintenance, i.e., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, mechanical systems (HVAC and central plant), and landscaping.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) at all campuses, including the Magical Forest, as scheduled and according to the PM task list specifications.
  3. Diagnose and repair air conditioning/heating systems.
  4. Conduct minor and industrial equipment repairs on facility maintenance equipment.
  5. Drive company vehicle to pick up orders, parts, and supplies to complete work requests.
  6. Provide general maintenance assistance with special events and fundraising activities.
  7. Participate in all matters regarding the safety of persons and property at all facilities and special functions.
  8. Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures.
  9. Must be able to work flexible hours.
  10. Promote excellent customer service for all customers, both internal and external.
  11. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately as mandated by state law.
  12. May be assigned other duties as needed

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not directly supervise others.

 

 
Position Requirements

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, team members, and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other's reactions and behaviors.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle, operate an Ariel Lift and forklift, and become proficient and certified in operating material moving equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools competently and safely.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required: Three (3) years of verifiable work experience in a facilities maintenance capacity repairing electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general maintenance, including three (3) years of air conditioning experience.
  • Required: Knowledge of risk management and workplace safety guidelines.
  • Required: Forklift certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Required: Valid Driver's License and a clean driving history.
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, i.e., extreme heat or cold.
  • Ability to endure varied noise levels from moderate to loud.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files.
  • Ability to successfully perform under critical deadlines.
  • Ability to resolve multiple complex issues simultaneously while remaining calm in stressful situations.
