Description

Primary Purpose:

We are seeking a dynamic individual with exceptional project management and coordination skills to join our team as a Development Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of our fundraising and development projects, including managing our mass email platform. The ideal candidate will have a passion for non-profit donor management, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to convey our organization's mission and impact through various channels. This person will review and proofread creative copy and other collateral material for use in appeal campaigns, acknowledgements and other outbound communication channels.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the Houston SPCA's eCommerce solution, including product management, order processing, and customer support. Build out functionality as needed, including event ticketing, peer to peer fundraising efforts and storytelling.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop creative campaigns and initiatives that promote our mission and drive donor engagement. Identify and amplify impactful stories that highlight the achievements and impact of our programs and initiatives.
  • Manage the Email Marketing Software, including building emails, segmenting target audiences, and implementing email system automation to maximize engagement and conversion rates.
  • Coordinate directly with the Direct Mail agency of record (TrueSense) to build trackable campaign pages, report success, and ensure deliverability. Support donor stewardship efforts by creating personalized thank-you letters, impact reports, and other communications to acknowledge donor contributions and cultivate ongoing support.
  • Conduct research on donor prospects, fundraising trends, and best practices to inform development strategies and messaging.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Communications to strategize and improve website content related to forms, feedback, donations, and information gathering.
  • Work closely with program staff, leadership, and external partners to gather information and insights for development writing projects.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all development materials, maintaining alignment with organizational values and goals.
  • Assist in the tracking and evaluation of development activities, contributing to the preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Protect all confidential information, including donors, clients, animals, and internal communications.
  • Maintain and update Houston SPCA information with industry oversight organizations including, but not limited to 211/United Way, Better Business Bureau, Charity Navigator, Charity Watch, GiveWell, Guidestar, and Network for Good.
  • In all areas of responsibility - continuously update the primary database of record, Raisers Edge, with prospect and donor interactions, proposals, and other information as required by best practices.
  • Participate in special projects as directed by the Senior Director of Direct Marketing.
  • Represent the Houston SPCA by providing excellent customer service and focus.
 
Position Requirements
  • Passion for the mission of the Houston SPCA and the Wildlife Center of Texas.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities successfully.
  • Cheerful outlook, team player, sense of humor.
  • Proficiency with Email Marketing Software (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) and eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Exceptional writing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong data management and reporting ability.
  • Sensitivity to and respect for the privacy rights of donors in all communications.
  • Must professionally represent the Houston SPCA with the public, donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Capable of meeting deadlines and responding to multiple demands concurrently with excellent mindfulness, accuracy, and quality.
  • Able to drive, stand, bend, squat, walk, and talk for up to eight hours a day; able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Regular office schedule, occasionally requiring availability during evening and weekend events. (This is not a remote or hybrid position)
  • Occasional exposure to animals and related issues.
  • Must be insurable under the organization’s auto insurance policy and have a valid Texas driver’s license.
