About the Organization Incorporated in 1985, Fountainhead Development, Inc., (FDI), specializes in property management and is the largest privately owned hotelier in Alaska. FDI owns and operates Sophie Station Suites, Wedgewood Resort and the Bear Lodge. Each of these properties offers guest accommodations, fine dining establishments and a variety of guest services. Fountainhead Development, Inc. owns and operates the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum, a collection that features over 84 American made antique automobiles and showcases the interesting heritage of the automobile during Alaska's post-Gold Rush era. Several autos are the only models of their marques known to remain.


In addition, FDI has a Wildlife Sanctuary at Wedgewood, which is a peaceful, 75-acre reserve that is home to an impressive variety of interior Alaska's wildlife. The sanctuary, a model wetlands restoration project, offers nature trails and observation decks.

Description

Position Summary: The Cabinet Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the production operations of all new cabinet and millwork projects, and cabinet related repairs, by ensuring high-quality workmanship, and meeting deadlines.

Duties:

  • Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors to determine work requirements
  • Read and understand instructions, blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required
  • Measure and mark materials and/or object for cutting and/or installation or assembly
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements
  • Install structures or fixtures
  • Perform framing, roofing, drywall, concrete, trim, asphalt patching, painting, and fine maintenance & repair work
  • Use appropriate tools and equipment to perform the work
  • Drive company vehicle
  • Clean work area upon project completion
  • Other duties as assigned

 
Position Requirements

Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License
  • Acceptable driving record to meet insurance standards
  • Three years carpentry experience preferred
  • Familiar with and able to use common carpentry and general maintenance tools, techniques and practices
  • Able to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers
  • Able to climb ladders
  • Able to provide own tools
  • Able to lift 90 lbs.
  • Able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, carrying, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
