About the Organization Cornerstone Energy Services, Inc. provides engineering, survey and land services to the energy infrastructure marketplace. We provide a broad range of services critical to the initial phases of projects, right through completion and documentation. These services include: process, civil, mechanical and I&E engineering, project management, survey and mapping, and Right-of-Way acquisition. We have expertise and experience in both long linear projects as well as single-site facilities. Our clients are developers and operators of oil and gas pipelines and electric transmission lines.

Our staff consists of Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Survey Engineers, Designers, Drafters, Mappers and Photogrammetrists, Land Surveyors, Right-of-Way Acquisition Specialists, Safety Professionals, and the support staff necessary to deliver high quality results in fast-paced project environments. Position Requirements

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Perform work that requires advanced knowledge in the application of field survey.
  • Prepare calculations, layouts, reports, etc. for survey projects.
  • Utilize various computer programs for data and information gathering, formula calculations, various studies and report generating and prepares written reports.
  • Attend client meetings – as required.
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, and aerial photographs for project planning.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment and apply survey principles to meet project challenges.
  • Keep Principal Surveyor, Project Manager and/or Survey Coordinator aware of workload and requests work when needed.
  • Continually monitor hardware, software, and technology.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in office and field settings.
  • The employee must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and extended keyboard use and reading of computer screen.
  • Must be able to work outdoors and on construction sites, exposed to outside environmental conditions – extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, and atmospheric conditions.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends to meet project demands.
  • Position requires travel (expected to be 10%); valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record required.

Physical requirements

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk and hear.
  • Position requires long hours and physical ability to hike through a variety of terrains while carrying equipment of approximately 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge in the field of energy infrastructure.
  • Thorough understanding of the practices associated with survey records research.
  • The ability to incorporate field notes and survey data into computer based drafting software for reduction to engineering.
  • The ability to consolidate survey data, as-builts, aerial photo data, and maps, etc. into presentable and accurate base maps for design and finished drawings and easements using AutoCAD.
  • Intermediate understanding of GIS concepts and processes uses and operations of GPS data capture equipment and software.
  • Excellent computer/internet skills and a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and Outlook are required.
  • Experience with Carlson Civil Suite, Trimble Business Center, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone, Civil 3D, Pix4D.
  • Experience with processing point cloud data.
  • Experience with 3D survey drawings.
  • The ability to maintain a great deal of interaction with clients.

Experience and Education

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in surveying or closely related field.
  • Able to obtain CST level II.
  • LSIT preferred but not required.
