Responsibilities
Operate various survey instruments, tools, and other equipment and is responsible for the proper handling and care of this equipment.
Observe and inspect construction.
Responsible for data quality control.
Work with existing condition plans as well as linear route drawings.
Coordinate the crew’s data collection during field activities.
Ensure that Company policies are clearly communicated and adhered to during field crew activities.
Although not the primary responsibility of this position, when needed, a Senior Technician has the ability to perform the responsibilities identified in the Technician job description.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
Must be able to work outdoors and on construction sites, exposed to outside environmental conditions – extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, and atmospheric conditions.
Position requires long hours and physical ability to hike through a variety of terrains while carrying equipment of approximately 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to work overtime and weekends to meet project demands.
Key Qualifications
Demonstrate the ability to perform all key qualifications of a Technician.
Know how to operate a total station, data collector, and GPS equipment.
The ability to pass and maintain certain Operator Qualifications (OQ) for various covered tasks.
Required Experience and Education
High school diploma.
Certified Survey Technician (CST) Level I certification.
Two to five years of experience in field surveys.
Experience with GPS and operational understanding of CAD.
Travel
Position requires travel (up to 100%); valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record required.
