Description

Position Summary

 

To work with and assist the corporate accounting department in all accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly close, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, lease, recurring sales tax and tonnage reporting, and other ad hoc financial reporting and accounting project needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Accounts Payable – enters corporate payables into the ERP system, audits and uploads freight list bills into the ERP system, reconciles monthly A/P trial balance to general ledger, reconciles outstanding check detail subsystem to general ledger, enter credit card purchase information into ERP system, and answer A/P questions as needed
  • Accounts Receivable – reconciles monthly cash receipts from the bank to JDE, reconciles monthly A/R trial balance to the general ledger
  • Monthly close – prepare and post various entries including banking journal, standard journal, FX foreign exchange accounting reconciliations for foreign subsidiary
  • Balance sheet reconciliations – reconcile subsystem detail to general ledger for cash, non-trade A/R, prepaids, liabilities including outbound freight liability accounts
  • Fixed Assets – enter completed capital projects into ERP system and runs monthly depreciation
  • Sales tax and tonnage reporting – prepare and file recurring sales and tonnage reporting/ Sales Tax compliance
  • Perform other duties such as ad hoc financial reporting and requests as required

Education and Experience:

 

  • Currently pursuing a four (4) year Accounting/Finance degree
  • Experience with JD Edwards Enterprise One (E1) accounting system is a plus

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is a must with a focus on Excel along with an ability to learn and utilize advanced Excel techniques such as Pivot Tables, Data Sorting,and self-calculating report creation using formulas such as SUM, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP and IF statements

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, speak English; proficiency in Spanish not required but is a plus.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.
  • May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).

  • Hybrid work schedule- three days in office and two days work remotely ( Wednesday and Friday). Internal office space.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travel as needed, up to an estimated 5% of the time.
