Position Overview:

We are seeking a results-driven and strategic Director of Major Gifts to spearhead major donor research and acquisition for our fundraising team. This key role involves identifying and cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals, implementing effective strategies for donor acquisition, and significantly contributing to the growth of major gift revenue. The successful candidate will have a strong background in major donor research, a proven track record in securing transformative philanthropic commitments, expertise in donor data and database management, and a commitment to effective donor stewardship. In this fast-paced and dynamic organization, the successful candidate will be a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision. Duties and job descriptions will shift and change with the organization's evolving needs, making adaptability and proactive problem-solving essential qualities for success in this role.

  • Prospect Research:
  • Conduct in-depth research to identify and qualify prospective major donors, assessing their capacity and inclination to make substantial gifts.
  • Cultivation Strategies:
  • Develop and execute targeted cultivation plans for major donor prospects, employing personalized and strategic approaches to foster meaningful connections.
  • Acquisition Campaigns:
  • Lead major donor acquisition campaigns, implementing innovative and effective strategies to attract new major donors to the organization.
  • Data Appending and Database Management:
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of donor information through data appending processes, keeping the donor database updated with the latest information.
  • Stewardship:
  • Implement effective stewardship plans to engage major donors, ensuring a positive and meaningful donor experience.
  • Portfolio Development:
  • Manage a portfolio of major donor prospects, implementing tailored engagement plans to move donors through the cultivation and solicitation process.
  • Collaborative Approach:
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, to align major gift strategies with organizational priorities and messaging.
  • Proposal and Presentation Development:
  • Create compelling and customized proposals and presentations to articulate the impact of major gifts and align donor interests with organizational needs.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
  • Utilize data analytics and reporting to inform major donor acquisition strategies, ensuring a data-driven approach to prospect management.
  • Goal Achievement:
  • Contribute significantly to the attainment of annual fundraising goals, with a primary focus on major donor acquisition and revenue targets.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in major donor research and acquisition, demonstrating success in securing substantial gifts.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to assess donor capacity and propensity.
  • Expertise in donor data appending processes and maintaining accuracy in the donor database.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a focus on donor-centric engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling proposals.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems. Desired experience with Salesforce.

Annual Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 (commensurate with experience)
