Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bindery Operator is responsible for a combination of work performed in the Bindery Department, including operating the Cutter, Folder, Stitcher, Booklet Maker and Perfect Binder. The Bindery Operator will be qualified to set up and run all the previously mentioned equipment, however specific area of prime responsibility may be assigned.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prioritize job processing with daily production schedule and delivery schedule.
  • Ability to adjust and operate specific setting on assigned equipment.
  • Follow job specifications on job jacket to ensure quality.
  • Identifies job jacket errors, and communicates problems to supervisor.
  • Coordinates with pressroom operators and project managers when necessary to ensure top quality and on-time processing of job.
  • Accurately charges jobs for material and time.
  • Communicates jobs in progress to co-workers.
  • Performs regular maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Ability to switch up workflow at a moment’s notice when needed to accommodate schedule changes and customer needs.
  • Reports all production related problems to supervisor.
  • Responsible for the successful completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Keeps work area neat, clean and well organized.
  • Works overtime when necessary.
  • Meets all defined departmental standards for quality, productivity, efficiency and waste.
  • Complies with all safety and health policies, procedures and practices; actively supports safety improvement initiatives; uses materials and equipment in an appropriate and safe manner; carries out all tasks in a manner so as to not create a hazard to oneself or others.
  • Supports organizational goals and values.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge:

  • High school diploma/GED or higher degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in Bindery/Finishing

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not require any supervisory responsibilities
