Share Email Opening Apply Now Title Part Time Instructor - Medication Administration  Category Part Time Instructor   Description This position will be teaching for Medical Assistant program courses. Part Time Faculty normally teach one or two courses per semester. Teaching assignments may be available for day and evening courses. Compensation is based on the total contact hours taught per semester, starting at $644 per contact hour. Teach lecture and laboratory portion of courses in the Medical Assistant program Prepare and distribute course syllabi to students Evaluate student progress through appropriate tools Maintain instructional laboratories and equipment Participate in curriculum activities Participate in committee assignments, program advisory committee activities, and departmental activities including recruitment of students Maintain a high level of academic competency through professional development activities Stay current with AMT and AAMA program requirements Maintain medical assistant credential Review new Standards and Guidelines and implement Ensure that all required information is displayed in course syllabi Maintain records of student competency completion and requirements Review students’ records for completion of requirements in courses Must maintain knowledge of current medical assisting practices to the standards of AAMA and AMT Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.   Position Requirements Position Qualifications Must be credentialed in good standing in Medical Assisting as a CMA(AAMA) or RMA(AMT) At least three years of employment in a healthcare facility working as a clinical medical assistant At least one year of experience teaching postsecondary and/or vocational/technical education or Instruction in educational theory and techniques preferred Familiarity with the most current version of Windows, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer Experience with practice management software and Electronic Health Records Excellent working knowledge of anatomy and physiology Strong ability to understand and use medical terminology Knowledge of PPE usage; disposal of sharps and biohazardous materials; sterilization; and asepsis Strong familiarity with medications prescribed in the medical office both generic and brand names Knowledge of and familiarity using pharmaceutical resources for dosages, drug names, side effects, contraindications, treatment options, class, warnings, etc. Experience with Escribing Ability to perform dosage calculations and to convert between measurement systems Knowledge of vaccines and vaccine schedules Experience administering injections   Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time   Shift Various Shifts   Close Date   Open Date 4/18/2023   Location Alpena Community College - Alpena Campus   About the Organization Alpena Community College is located in Northeast Michigan on the beautiful shoreline of Lake Huron.
