Description

Intellectual Concepts is seeking a Senior Transit Planner to join our expanding team in Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL. This newly created position will be responsible for managing complex planning projects under the general supervision of the Director of Transit Planning. You will join a team of professional planners and engineers focused on customer satisfaction with an eye towards meeting and exceeding our client expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as task lead on transportation and or transit projects including feasibility studies, alternatives analysis, environmental analysis, and other project development studies.
  • Provide general planning support including data collection, research, and documentation
  • Write and present formal and technical reports, graphics, working papers and correspondence
  • Attend and contribute to client, stakeholder, and public engagement meetings
  • Effectively work with management and other team members to ensure the proper management and coordination of internal and external meetings, project documentation, and timely conveyance of project deliverables.
 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, and or other related fields of study
  • 5 + years of experience in transportation and or transit planning with a demonstrated understanding of the transportation planning process, concepts, and methods
  • Competence in Geographic Information Systems software and other related transportation planning software
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Software suite and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound and well-informed decisions.
  • Domestic travel may be required, mostly in the South/Southeast US

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, or closely related field
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide others toward accomplishment of project goals and objectives
  • Good organization skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to take complex data and synthesize it into an easy-to-understand format for the public
