Overview: The HR Assistant will provide administrative support to the companys Human Resources function and Sr. management. Individual must have a strong desire to learn proper HR fundamentals and applications, including workplace law compliance, workers compensation procedures, OSHA record-keeping requirements, state/federal leave-of-absence mandates, employee problem/resolution procedures, policy administration, on-boarding practices, and other HR-related job duties with a focus of maintaining a safe and harmonious work environment.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the HR Consultant handling of day-to-day HR activity, employee-related issues/concerns, disciplinary matters, new hire orientations, leave-of-absence requests, and staffing needs.
  • Preparing HR forms for review by HR Consultant and approval by Sr. Management.
  • Interacting with temp-agencies via email, by phone, and text messages to ensure proper warehouse staffing levels are met. Communicating with department managers/supervisors regarding temp-agency job placements, performance and attendance issues, in/out timekeeping accuracy, temp-to-hire recommendations/placements, weekly temp-agency payroll submission, etc.
  • Maintaining employee timekeeping/attendance using internal application, catching missing punches, etc., for on-site staff and employees working from home. Process also includes editing timekeeping entries for submission to payroll department for bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Assisting HR Consultant with implementation of company policies and work rules, HR programs, compensation & benefit programs, conducting wage/salary surveys, coordinating employee training sessions and one-on-one employee meetings, handling HR special projects, and compiling/updating employee files and records.
  • Tracking benefit eligibility enrollment dates, scheduling pre-employment drug-screening appointments, preparing new hire documents, assisting employees with completion of enrollment/change forms, assisting with annual open enrollment benefit programs.
  • Monitoring employee performance evaluation program, notifying supervisors/managers of performance evaluation due date, preparing HR merit increase forms, and coaching/helping supervisors and managers with performance form related questions.
  • Conducting new hire orientation (on-boarding meetings), including preparation of new hire packages, payroll fingerprint scanning, and completion of required HR and payroll related new hire forms, and I-9 compliance forms.
  • Assisting with planning and coordinating of company on-site and off-site sponsored events.
  • Working closely with HR Consultant and Sr. management on a variety of HR-related projects and assignments.
 
Position Requirements

EXPECTATIONS:


1. Specific work schedule based on 20-25 hours per week will be determined mutually by Individual and Sr. management.
2. Individual must be flexible and able to work whatever hours are needed to satisfactorily perform job assignments.
3. Job assignment requires individual to maintain a high-level of confidentiality in the performance of job assignment, must have a pro-active, positive personality, and ability to professionally interact with all levels of personnel and management.
