Outpatient Imaging Affiliates is looking for a full time certified medical coder to join our incredible billing team. This is a remote position . The Medical Coder reports to the Accounts Receivables Manager and performs a variety of duties related to, but are not limited to, assigning the appropriate ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT codes and modifiers by reviewing the patient's report and medical records performed. The Medical Coder will also be responsible for completing coding review that have been denied by various insurance companies as well as staying abreast of the latest coding and medical policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Provides coding for multiple locations, providers, carriers, and states.
Ensures that billable radiology reports have been coded correctly with ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT codes and modifiers by reviewing the patient medical record for the appropriate documentation of services provided.
Keeps up to date on all coding trends, policies and procedures, and changes.
Maintains a complete understanding of HCPCS/ICD/CPT coding and specific carrier requirements and knowledge.
Audits coding from outside agencies and/or staff.
Drafts appeals to payers on denied services, when necessary, to obtain reimbursement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is required.
2 years of previous experience
Experience working with multiple entities
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a range of personality types.
Strong computer skills, including the ability to type 50+ WPM
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in daily work and other projects.
Ability to be a team player & a participating member in a cooperative work environment.
Ability to organize, prioritize and manage various work assignments in a fast paced, high volume environment.
Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines
Adherence to policies, procedures and instructions
