Schedule Summer: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 am-4:00 pm and Winter: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-3:00 pm. Hours may vary based on operational needs. OT as required.  
Pay Rate $18.11/hr.  
Description

SUMMARY
Performs semi-skilled labor in the maintenance and repair of the City water distribution system.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Not applicable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.

• Repairs and maintains fire hydrants, valves and water pipes.
• Installs new water mains and extends existing systems.
• Repairs streets and other structures due to water repair and excavations.
• Operates air compressors, jack hammers, saws and misc. hand & power tools.
• Operates dump truck, crew trucks and other light utility vehicles.
• Performs concrete finishing setup.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent education and one month experience with water system maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Ability to perform strenuous manual labor.
• Ability to operate hand tools with skill.
• Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.
• Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License required.

EQUIPMENT
Air compressors, jack hammers, hand and power tools.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in wet and/or humid conditions and is exposed to airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to loud.
