About the Organization The Houston SPCA, founded in 1924, is Houston's first and largest animal protection organization and shelter. Our mission is to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation. The Houston SPCA is a private, non-profit charity, funded entirely by donations, which receives no funding from the Government, United Way or national animal groups.

Description
  • Create and maintain the latest, up-to-date content for the new website, social media, as well as other online opportunities to promote the organization.
  • Building, tracking and optimizing digital marketing campaigns including but not limited to social media and SEO.
  • Experience with CMS platforms such as Wordpress and familiar with EveryAction a plus
  • Create strategies to engage audiences, grow reach and build brand awareness
  • Create monthly and bi-weekly digital marketing data reports and analytics
  • Explore opportunities to add value to overall marketing efforts such as taking initiative, being proactive and bringing forward fresh ideas
  • Solid understanding of digital marketing trends and industry best practices
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on deadline in a fast-paced working environment
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong technical, creative and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner in all situations with the public, volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships within the organization, as well as volunteers and the public.
  • Able to drive, stand, bend, squat, walk, and talk for at least eight hours a day; able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including occasional weekend and evenings when required.
  • Works with team members to supplement copy with elements needed for "mobile-first" visual storytelling including but not limited to photos, videos, graphic, infographics, maps, charts etc.
  • Creates compelling content to showcase seasonal campaigns, outreach, education, and blogs with proven editorial skill on all digital platforms.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team on multiple projects
  • Requires strong attention to detail, along with excellent written, and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must have knowledge of Google Analytics Manager, Google AdWords, Google Tag Manager, SEO and basic HTML.
  • Expertise in writing for variable content for video, print collateral, photos, e-blasts, etc.
  • Agency experience a plus.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or Business
  • At least 3+ years of digital and content marketing
  • Ability to lead content initiatives
  • Possess a balance of critical and creative thinking skills in order to drive measurable success
  • A sophisticated grasp of available media channels and ability to identify potential opportunities
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Word)
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite/Photoshop Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)
  • Able to work independently and with others with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with Blackbaud, Luminate/Convio as well as CMS platforms such as WordPress a plus
  • Experienced with Google Analytics and HTML
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong technical, creative and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Dependable and focused team player
  • Requires strong visual style and thorough understanding of how typography, layout, color, images, and interactivity impact design and user engagement.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner in all situations with the public, volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships within the organization, as well as volunteers and the public.
