Schedule Varied schedule, up to 29 hrs./wk. during open fitness center hours of 5:00 am-9:00 pm including weekday and weekend shifts. Hours may vary depending on departmental need.  
Pay Rate $10.10/hr.  
Description

SUMMARY
Provides clerical and receptionist support for the fitness center, performs daily maintenance of exercise facility and weight lifting equipment, and assists members with exercise and fitness routines, equipment maintenance and general facility information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Assists with the supervision of the free weight and exercise machines. Performs daily maintenance of free weights, exercise machines, cardiovascular equipment and fitness facility, including locker rooms and group fitness studios.
• Assists members with proper use and maintenance of each piece of exercise equipment.
• Assists with implementation of fitness special events, classes, programs and projects.
• Assists with fitness facility membership development and public relations within the facility and at special events.
• Keeps Fitness Manager up to date on fitness equipment service needs and repairs.
• Maintains accurate membership records and fitness orientation materials.
• Assists customers and members over the phone and in person while maintaining customer service policies set by department.
• Assists with computer registration of customers for membership, activities, sales and renewals and handles payments for services according to departmental policies.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Working knowledge of City or County government a plus.
• Knowledge of fitness and health related topics.
• Ability to maintain neat working environment.
• Ability to deal courteously and effectively with co-workers, customer, members and public.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• CPR/AED/Standard First Aid Certification required or willingness to complete upon hire.
• Fitness certification preferred.

EQUIPMENT
Various cardio and weight equipment, various sport equipment, personal computer including processing software, calculator, copy, and fax machine, telephone, cellular phone, sweeper, broom, washing machine and dryer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in office setting and fitness center, with moderate inside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office and moderately loud in the center. Entire facility is smoke free.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this job include vision and the ability to adjust focus.
