About the Organization CP Rochester and Happiness House are private nonprofit health, educational, residential and human service organizations that have been serving communities in the Finger Lakes Region since 1969 and the Greater Rochester Area since 1946. Today with sites in Rochester, Canandaigua, Geneva, Gorham, Midlakes and Waterloo, our agencies offer an array of educational, therapeutic, recreational, residential and family support programs and services for children and adults with and without disabilities. On average, our agencies serve 3,650 families each year and employ approximately 600 people.


Our staff consists of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals and clinicians with expertise in the areas of Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Physical, Occupational, Speech and Music Therapies, Psychology, Service Coordination, Nursing, Dental Services, and Developmental Disabilities.

Description

2 Positions Available- Full Time/School Year (37.5 hours per week) at the Golisano Autism Center in Rochester, NY. This position operates in a preschool and clinic environment, working with both Children and Adults.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Applied Science.
  2. Licensed or eligible for license as an Occupational Therapist in New York State.
  3. Current New York registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  4. Valid New York State Driver's License.
  5. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  6. Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  7. Must have demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Promotes the Golisano Autism Center's Vision, Mission and Philosophy.
  2. Upholds NYS Education Law/Practice Act as relating to the practice of occupational therapy.
  3. Performs appropriate evaluations to individuals to determine the need for occupational therapy services.
  4. Ensures valid prescriptions are written for all individuals on caseload.
  5. Carries out treatment plans developed after evaluation, in clinic setting for the Article 16 and Article 28 outpatient clinics as well as the Preschool or School Programs, as necessary.
  6. Available to consult with other professionals such as teachers, habilitation staff, as well as other members of the interdisciplinary team as appropriate, to facilitate delivery of coordinated quality services to individuals.
  7. Works with legal guardians, house staff or parents as integral members of the interdisciplinary team in the clinic, day hab or school setting, as needed.
  8. Communicates with physicians, orthopedists and other medical personnel in order to facilitate evaluation and treatment of individuals.
  9. Completes all paperwork in accordance with agency, program and department policies/guidelines.
  10. Ensures knowledge of paperwork, Electronic Health Record and applicable Medicare and Medicaid regulations in order to provide appropriate documentation.
  11. Attends all team, discipline and staff meetings as designated.
  12. Maintains treatment area in an orderly manner to ensure safety.
  13. Maintains all department equipment as appropriate.
  14. Advises Supervisor of Clinical/Children's staff of need for replacement of old or ordering of new equipment.
  15. Meets with interdisciplinary team and Program Supervisor as needed to review status and need of program modifications for individuals on caseload
