Summary: Assurety Consulting, a leader in the postal/parcel ecosystem, seeks highly qualified applicants for a senior technical Writer position. This is a full-time position in Washington, D.C., with a hybrid working opportunity 3-4 days a week remotely. The position requires a US Postal Service (USPS) security clearance, and the applicant must be either a US Citizen or a Green Card holder.
The Senior Technical Writer analyzes business needs, performs document updates, and helps with technical writing activities. The individual will organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. May confer with customer representatives, vendors, executives, end customers,
IT organization employees or publishers to establish technical specifications and to
determine subject material to be developed for publication.
Conditions of Employment (REQUIRED):
- US Citizenship or Green Card.
- The position requires security clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in English or Communications or related fields. Master’s degree in Excellent communication skills to create, update, and do QA on document-based deliverables.
- 5+ years of professional experience analyzing business needs, performing document updates, and helping with technical writing activities.
- Understands technical documentation and how the technical documentation is to be laid out.
Experience Needed:
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and validate technical information
- Implementing and improving documentation standards and procedures on a regular basis
- Peer reviewing and editing content created by other team members
- Participating in product development cycles to ensure timely documentation updates
- Conducting user research to improve documentation usability and effectiveness
- Contributing to strategic documentation initiatives to support overall application team
- Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
- Review published materials and recommended revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding
- Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, production sequence, and detail
- Interview production and engineering personnel and read journals and other materials to familiarize yourself with product technologies and production methods
- Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail
- Analyze developments in specific fields to determine the need for revisions in previously published materials and development of new material
- Review manufacturers and trade catalogs, drawings, and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment
