The Position:

The Family Support Services (FSS) Data Specialist is responsible for program monitoring and evaluation by collecting, reviewing, and entering quantitative program data.  Working closely with program staff, the FSS Data Specialist will develop and monitor data tracking mechanisms and ensure databases are functioning so that data is accurately recorded and tracked. This position is also a large contributor to continuous quality improvement within FSS.  This position reports to an FSS Program Manager and supports data and billing countywide.

Because working with those impacted by trauma can affect staff in various ways, FSA actively identifies and employs methods to support staff to embody a healthy and sustainable balance of care for both themselves and others.

 

Specific Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:

 

Program Development, Compliance and Evaluation  

  1. Develop and implement data tracking mechanisms that capture and reflect services as outlined in program contracts.
  2. Coordinate with program staff to support accurate data tracking and data entry practices.
  3. Maintain data entry guide and provide staff training and support as directed.
  4. Prepare preliminary grant reports.
  5. Enter necessary client information into appropriate databases as needed.
  6. Review program data to support evaluation of performance measures and program outputs.
  7. Conduct regular data quality reviews.
  8. Perform duties of the job while maintaining a focus on continuous quality improvement.

Supervision  

  1. Participate in meetings with supervisor and other meetings as scheduled. 
  2. Participate and complete goals developed during supervision and year-end evaluations.  

Community Partnerships 

  1. Contribute to quality assurance of services, procedures, and partnerships.
  2. Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with community partners.  

FSA Team Member 

  1. Participate in and attend FSA team and all-staff meetings and trainings, and other required events/activities.  
  2. Attend professional development training courses, webinars, and other conferences. 
  3. Provide a safe and trauma-informed environment for staff and clients.   
  4. Participate in and support agency-wide organizational initiatives. 
  5. Adhere to FSA policies and procedures.
  6. Participate in FSA committees as needed. 
  7. Support a climate that invites employees from diverse backgrounds to grow and lead at FSA.  
  8. Model and ensure an inclusive, welcoming, and inspiring organizational culture aligned with FSA’s values. 
  9. Work collaboratively and respectfully with other FSA staff members. 
  10. Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Employment Standards:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Excellent analytical, computer, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Experience working with quantitative data.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Professional attitude, teamwork, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Background check required.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and proof of insurance required. Reliable transportation is necessary to travel throughout Santa Barbara County.

Classification, Hours and Pay Rate:

  • This is a part-time or full-time position, with flexibility from 20-40 hours per week! Part time and/or full time position are possible based on applicant preference. This position also has the possibility of hybrid work.
  • This is not a remote position.
  • Positions working 30.0 or more hours per week will include benefits, such as: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts and 403(b) retirement plan. Vacation, holiday, and sick leave also offered.
  • Pay dependent on education and experience starting at $27/hour.
