Statement of Duties:
The Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) Investigator, or equal, will provide investigator services to the USAO in connection with ACE matters, with particular emphasis on civil healthcare fraud investigations associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
These services will include, without limitation:
• Work with the ACE Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) to plan and conduct all aspects of affirmative civil enforcement investigations;
• Develop an understanding of all applicable federal laws and regulations to the extent necessary to make sound decisions on the direction and scope of investigations;
• Work with AUSAs to determine proof required to demonstrate violations of law, and to devise and select most effective investigative methods for obtaining, preserving, and presenting such proof;
• Identify resources that may be required for investigative work;
• Coordinate with AUSAs and any law enforcement agents to conduct witness interviews and/or surveillance as necessary;
• Document interviews and/or surveillance;
• Conduct public record research and data analysis;
• Coordinate with AUSAs to prepare written requests for information;
• Analyze and categorize records produced;
• Prepare written reports on progress of investigations;
• Assist AUSAs with compiling and synthesizing documentary evidence and witness statements;
• Assist in creating evidence summaries, including charts or memoranda.
