The Estimator is responsible for the preparation of cost estimates on new and previously fabricated products as well as change orders on existing contracts. This position ensures that estimates are developed, evaluated, and submitted in accordance with customer supplied drawings and specifications, as well as company internal controls. The Estimator will also cross train in Work Order Processing to supply support in that position when needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Promote and adhere to the Core Values and Behavior Code.
Prepare detailed estimates for assigned projects of all sizes and complexities.
Analyze RFQ bid instructions, detailed specifications, and other documentation to prepare a “take off” of materials included in the job.
Assess subcontract pricing, material costs, and labor required for all phases of the project.
Consult with Purchasing on supplier quote and selection.
Interface with all necessary departments to understand and determine size and scope of projects along with timelines and applicable project deadlines.
Promote inter-department cooperation and teamwork through active involvement with all staff members to obtain support, qualifications, and commitment to the cost estimates.
Negotiate final contract with customer under the direction of Management. Follow up as needed to identify potential issues with resolutions that maximize production and minimize costs.
Ensures that all contractual terms and obligations of such projects are maintained.
Analyze completed projects to compare actual versus estimated costs to identify process improvement and cost reduction.
Enter data in ERP system.
Continually strive to develop personal and professional skills. Willingness to learn the Work Order Processing position in order to assist in creating and maintaining CAD sketches to support customer drawings and generate purchase requisitions.
Required to wear appropriate PPE as required by job duties.

Education/Experience:
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1+ years applicable experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proven written and verbal communication skills for both internal and external customers.
General knowledge of welding processes and procedures, steel fabrication, and machining.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
Detail oriented and possess strong problem solving, math, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
Adaptability and flexibility to shift priorities based on the organizations’ needs.
Integrity, professionalism, and discretion are essential.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
This is a full-time position that operates in both a professional office and production environment. Use of computer, telephone and other office equipment throughout the day as needed to conduct business. Physical effort consists of frequent handling of light to average weight materials. Work performed requires constant alertness and activity, concentrated mental and visual attention required.
