Description

Job Description:
1) Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in plant.
2) Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of
product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production
equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
3) Assists Production and Sales in analyzing and planning work force utilization, space
requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for
maximum efficiency.
4) Confers with planning and production staff concerning product design and tooling to
ensure efficient production methods.
5) Confers with purchasing department and suppliers, as required, to determine
product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and
evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
6) Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
7) Responsible for developing, implementing and auditing methods and manufacturing
processes that reduce product costs, increase productivity and capacity.
8) Assess and advise the need for tooling and equipment to meet production requirements
and execution of projects related to fabrication and machining.

Job Description (General):
1) Understand our customer's business interest, business, and company in order to establish
and/or maintain Butler Weldments position as a technical resource for our customers.
2) Attend plant walk through with customers as required.
3) Review customer satisfaction surveys and adjust processes as required.
4) Conduct periodic reviews of work in progress.
5) Responsible for the orderly and timely compliance of policies and quality standards.
6) Attend group meetings as required.

3) Capable of generating assembly instructions for production.
7) Other duties and special projects on an as-needed basis.

Requirements:

Experience:
1) Capable of interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form, and dealing with abstract and/or concrete variables.
2) Ability to conduct studies to improve efficiencies, reduce losses and develop plans to
reduce workmanship first time failures.
3) Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings, blueprints, and customer design
specifications.
4) Be proficient in use of CAD/CAM software such as; Solidworks.
5) Possess the ability to direct production staff with engineering support of mechanical
assemblies and testing.
6) Capable of identifying work critical path items based on priorities of assignments and
communicate constraints to the production team.
7) Capable of designing and/or procuring tooling, material handling devices or other
assembly aids.
8) Capability of identifying and resolving problems in order to minimize or prevent
production delays or work stoppages.
9) Working relationship with most suppliers to verify their manufacturing processes and
products and to assist them, if needed, to assure a quality product is provided.
10) Have a working knowledge of continuous improvement techniques in order to identify
and improve work flow and processes.
11) Ability to research new manufacturing processes by the use of technical papers, trade
magazines, trade shows and supplier visits and apply those processes, where applicable,
to enhance production capabilities within our facilities.
12) Working knowledge of ERP systems.
The Manufacturing Engineer shall demonstrate, through documented training, knowledge
and compliance of safety requirements for personnel in the department he will supervise.

Skills:
The Manufacturing Engineer shall demonstrate through examination, practical and/or
written, technical skills required for the department he will manage.
Initiative and Ingenuity:
Requires use of judgment to comply with established methods and procedures involved in
the job.
Confidential Data:
Access to information of a confidential nature such as individual wages, labor charges,
sales order, budget, financial statements, tax, production schedules, internal rules and
policies, executive management decisions.
Education: Bachelors of Science in Process, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering; or 5 years job related work experience preferred.
