APTOS Purchasing Manager 

Description

The APTOS Purchasing Manager position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services necessary for projects while working with client Preconstruction and Operations teams to provide the best value overall.

Safety

Building Relationships

· Build internal relationships to foster open, honest and trustworthy communication across all departments.

· Collaborate with project managers to forecast material and equipment needs for upcoming projects, coordinating procurement activities accordingly.

· Work with Preconstruction and Operations teams to complete buyout in a timely manner based on project timeline.

· Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure plentiful resources for all projects, continually improving pricing and quality of work.

· Focus on customer service and value add to build client base.

Focus on End Goals

· Maintain a team oriented and results driven mentality; we are vital to each other's success.

· Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of materials, equipment, and services required for projects as outlined by client.

· Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.

· Source and evaluate potential suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating favorable terms and pricing agreements.

· Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand and ensure suppliers are slotted with correct workload to ensure performance levels are met.

· Create buyout schedule to include buyout targets with input from project teams.

· Negotiate and issue purchase orders.

· Ensure compliance with project budgets and provide analysis of deviations.

· Work with manufacturers to ensure adherence to contract T & C's.

· Resolve supplier performance issues and disputes in a timely and professional manner.

· Provide basic support for all departments as needed, along with other assigned duties.

Drive Innovation

· Requires continuous improvement mindset; lead & participate in continuous improvement of processes to eliminate issues and improve customer experience.

· Analyze market trends and pricing data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve purchasing efficiency.

· Become a trusted internal resource for industry developments and best practices in procurement and supply chain management.

· Utilize appropriate technology to provide best in class project solutions. This includes estimating (Sage®) and project management software (Procore®) and other web-based collaboration tools.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Construction preferred.

· Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience in the Construction industry required.

· Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and suppliers.

· Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.

· Proven ability to successfully develop and implement processes.

· Ability to independently prioritize tasks and manage multiple project simultaneously.

· Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).

Travel Expectations

  • Occasional overnight travel via plane or car

Work Environment

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee will exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently in an office environment, 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally when in a trade show/presentation environment.

· Frequent activities of office environment include sitting, standing, walking, typing and other computer work, using telephone and other standard office equipment.

· Occasional activities of office environment include balancing, bending/stooping, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion.
