Share Email Opening Apply Now Title Maintenance Repair I, II, III, or IV  Open Date 4/12/2024   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt   Bargaining / Non-Bargaining Bargaining   Division Public Works   Location Utilities/Waste Water   Reports To Director of Wastewater Maintenance   Schedule 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (Some after hours work if needed)   Pay Rate $20.67-$23.34/hr, depending on level of qualifications.   Description Salary - $20.67 - $23.34 Depending on Qualifiations JOB SUMMARY: Participates in the installation, diagnosis, and repair of equipment & structures. The equipment is located at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, lift stations and CSO overflow points in the collection system. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maintains maintenance schedules for the servicing of all wastewater equipment. Participates in the training of maintenance staff as needed. Responsible for major maintenance on pumps, blowers, motors, and piping. Performs duties such as preventative maintenance of natural gas engines, pump repair & replacement, laser alignment of equipment and general repair of facilities. HVAC knowledge (installation of heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems). Welding (arc, mig, tig, heliarc, carbon arc) Cutting (cutting torches, plasma, cut off tools, saws, etc.) Fabrication Knowledge of painting and painting equipment. General housekeeping of the facilities. Assures that the necessary equipment and materials are available for repairs and service. Assures that all work completed in the department complies with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as well as all other applicable policies and regulations. Maintains detailed company records of any additions and modifications made to equipment, process, and procedure. Conducts field inspections of structures and equipment to assure that they are mechanically sound & operating properly and in good condition. Works with various departments and outside contractors. Personally, inspects work to assure that it is being performed properly and within company guidelines. Performs preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and repair work orders. Compare them with historical data to assure that department functions are being properly carried out and to assist in forming department work plans. Assist Director in the development of annual O & M Budget. Remains abreast of the latest industrial developments relating to the maintenance field and may make recommendations for updating or improving existing equipment. NON-ESSENTIAL / MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Does other work as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent required 5 years related experience for public utilities or private Industry. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of equipment maintenance and carpentry work Must be able to follow Arc Flash Safety procedures. Basic knowledge in electrical, electronics, hydraulics, mathematics, mechanics, and pneumatics. Ability to communicate effectively within company, outside contractors, and other utilities. Must possess thorough knowledge and ability to read schematics, make written material and parts requests. Ability to prepare a bill of material for new projects to management. General office software, MS Office suite Maintenance Management System Hydraulics Must negotiate stairs. Must visually trace piping. Must be able to hand operate manual valves from below floor level to ceiling height. Must be able to climb and work on a ladder. Must be able to work around open and unprotected water. Must be able to work in high places. Must be able to make decisions based upon audio and visual observations. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Must be able to work alone. Must interact with coworkers and the public with tact and diplomacy. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: A valid driver’s license is required. EQUIPMENT: Calculator, Computer, Handheld Tablet, Telephone, Photocopier. Drive City Vehicle, use manhole confined space equipment, use gas and water testing equipment. Use handheld tools and electronic testing equipment to perform trouble shooting on various equipment. Must wear steel toed boots, cold weather gear and related equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Must be able to negotiate stairs. Must be able to work in and around confined spaces and open and unprotected water. Requires daily lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 60 pounds. Requires manipulations controlled by the arms and hand.
