Description

The Water Safety Program Coordinator plays a vital role in the overall organization and administration of the Water Safety Program. Reporting to the Swim Lessons Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a well organized and effective program for all participating PUSD students with key focuses on program set-up, execution, and public relations.

General Responsibilities:

Administrative Duties:

  • Supervises, coordinates and leads the day-to-day operations of the water safety program
  • Act as a primary point of contact for the elementary schools, parents and guardians, and staff with regards to Water Safety Program inquiries, comments, and complaints
  • Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner and maintain communication with participants
  • Creates program schedule, and coordinates facility space needs and requests
  • Responsible for inputting availability, coordinating instructors schedules and maintaining enough instructors to operate a safe and smooth program
  • Complete knowledge of program material and curriculum
  • Conduct routine program assessments and provide recommendations to the Swim Lesson Manager or Swim Instructor Senior Trainer
  • Follow communication procedures, guidelines and policies, and lead by example
  • Assist in conducting in-service trainings and staff meetings
  • Responsible for ordering materials/equipment necessary for the program to function
  • Responsible for organizing the children into groups according to their pretest level
  • Responsible for maintaining a ratio of children to instructors that allows for the best progress to be made
  • Manage delegation of instructor duties
  • Assist in evaluating and managing instructors performance
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating potential employees
  • Responsible for organizing two Back to Pool Days (dates, event space, staff, marketing materials)
  • Gathers data and inputs data for each student in a spreadsheet for the development department
  • Ensure that all policies and systems are understood and upheld


Public Relation Duties:

  • Build sustainable relationships and trust with PUSD schools, teachers, parents and RBAC staff through open and interactive communication
  • Responsible for coordinating the program for each elementary school from start to finish; including but not limited to creating packets, attaining rosters, scheduling orientations, distribution and collection of materials (i.e permission slips, flyers, workbooks)
  • Participates in site visits and special events that promote the RBAC, our programs and donors


On Deck Duties:

  • Ensure areas are organized and ready to go at the start and end of each shift (changing tents, towel room, shed)
  • Daily attendance of swim instructors and students
  • Supervision of swim instructors
  • Responsible for pre testing/post testing the children to track progress made throughout their session
  • Perform as a swim instructor, if needed
  • Maintain a clean, fun and safe environment for all employees, students and parents
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Experience:

  • Experience in aquatics or customer service experience
  • Experience supervising others
  • Must be or become CPR certified within 30 days of being hired


Skills:

  • Hands-on approach with attention to detail, organization, reliability, and a get-it-done attitude
  • A collaborative team player with highly developed interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills who can relate to diverse internal and external audiences
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Self-motivated and highly experienced with multi-tasking
  • Strong skills using the Microsoft Suite of products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)


Knowledge:

  • Comfortable in transitional situations where there is rapid change and ambiguity
  • Takes pride in excellence and has the initiative to keep striving for improvement and learning while delegating and developing a strong supporting team


Abilities:

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial approach to programming, balancing control with flexibility, and a willingness to innovate and change
  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to command credibility and influence outcomes at the highest levels of an organization
  • Willing to “roll up sleeves”, operate at any level (from senior management to the lowest level of the organization)


Supervision Exercised:
This position supervises full-time and part-time hourly positions.

FLSA Status:
This classification is non-exempt from FLSA requirements.

Work Schedule:

  • Full Time; Hourly
  • Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule
  • Pay range: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
