Description

Reporting to the Chief Development and Communications Officer, the Development Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing the fundraising initiatives of the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. This position is responsible for managing and implementing strategies to secure funding through grant writing, donor cultivation, and stewardship activities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in grant writing, experience with donor management databases such as DonorPerfect, and a passion for building relationships with donors and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Writing: Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Develop compelling grant proposals and grant reports to secure funding for programs, capital projects, and operational expenses. Ensure compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.
  • DonorPerfect Database Management: Oversee the DonorPerfect database to maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records. Utilize DonorPerfect to track donor interactions, manage fundraising campaigns, and generate donor reports. Provide training and support to staff members on database usage and best practices.
  • Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Develop and implement strategies to cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors. Plan and execute donor stewardship activities, including donor appreciation events, recognition programs, and personalized communications. Ensure timely acknowledgment of donations and regular engagement with donors to deepen their connection to the organization.
  • Fundraising Campaigns: Collaborate with the Chief Development and Communications Officer and other team members to plan and execute fundraising campaigns and events. Develop compelling fundraising materials, including solicitation letters, appeal emails, and tailored donor acknowledgements. Track and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising efforts and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with the Chief Development and Communications Officer and other staff members to align fundraising goals with the organization's strategic priorities. Provide leadership and guidance to volunteers and committee members involved in fundraising activities. Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and networking opportunities to promote awareness and support. All staff at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center lead through a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, both within the RBAC and with the communities that we serve.
  • Other duties as assigned



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of nonprofit fundraising principles and best practices
  • Commitment to the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability to fundraising practices and donor relationships
  • Demonstrated experience/proven success in:
    • Grant management and overall grantsmanship practices
    • Donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, including management of sustainer programs, legacy societies, leadership circles, etc.
    • Fundraising campaign strategies and tactics, including direct mail, online fundraising, special events, etc.
  • Proficiency in donor database management, ideally bringing experience with DonorPerfect
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders (donors, volunteers, staff, community partners, etc.)
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, while managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate fundraising performance, track metrics, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues across departments to achieve fundraising goals
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive donor information and financial data.
  • Willingness to seek out, learn, and adapt to new technologies, tools, and best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, or related field. Combined experience/education as a substitute will be considered.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising preferred, with a focus on grant writing and donor relations. 



FLSA Status:

This classification is exempt from FLSA requirements.


Work Schedule:

Full-Time, set schedule onsite; 12 months

Working hours may include weekends, evenings, and holidays. Light travel may be required.


Pay and Benefits

$75,000 - $81,000
