Skill Creations is a human services agency that operates three service divisions. The ICF Division provides specialized long-term residential care to 191 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in 15 different towns in North Carolina. The Community Operations Division provides residential and non-residential services to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in their home community. The Child Development Division, with two locations in Goldsboro, provides high quality child care and preschool for children ages birth - 5 years. One center also offers after school care through age 12.   Description Looking for AFL (Alternative Family Living) Home in the Asheville/Buncombe County area Pay Rate; will be a Daily Rate determined by authorized services the individual is awarded Schedule; Individual lives with you in your family home 24/7/365 The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to the provision of overall support and care for individuals receiving services from Skill Creations, Inc. Those that Skill Creations Inc. serves in this capacity are individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and secondary mental health/substance abuse issues. The AFL/DSP works in the home and in the community, providing care according to the specific needs of the individual and their plan of care. The AFL/Direct Support Professional will assist with personal care, behavioral support, medication administration and assistance and/or independent living skills, also provides educational opportunities in the areas of communication and recreation/leisure as needed. ***Please note: While resumes are accepted, the online application must be completed before a candidate will be considered for any open positions. Requirements: High School graduation/University College Transcript Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule is expected Valid NC Driver’s license and acceptable Driving Record Criminal Record Check Successful completion of course work will be required in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management. Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, electronic training modules and recording data. Persons must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and the work occasionally requires balancing, bending, stooping and kneeling. The position requires the employee to be on his or her feet most of the time.
