Pay Rate: $16 /hr
Position Specifics: Providing 0-15 hrs a week of service in her home and surrounding community
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to the overall support to individuals receiving services from Skill Creations, Inc. The individuals served are affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and secondary mental health/substance abuse issues. The DSP works in the individuals home and/or in the community providing one-to-one or group care according to the specific needs of the individuals and their plan of care. Examples of the type of duties include assisting the individual with personal care, preparing meals/snacks and assisting with taking medications. The Direct Support Professional also provides training opportunities in the areas of communication, recreation/leisure skills and appropriate behaviors. For some assignments, the DSP transports/accompanies individuals to a day program site and other activities in the community.
Requirements:
High School graduation or University College Transcript
Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule is expected. Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays.
Valid Driver’s license and acceptable Driving Record
Criminal Record Check
Successful completion of course work will be required in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, electronic training modules and recording data.
Persons must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and the work occasionally requires balancing, bending, stooping and kneeling. The position requires the employee to be on his or her feet most of the time.
