Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. We provide academically rigorous, vibrant learning grounded in social justice and student centered pedagogy. SHC is a San Francisco Archdiocesan High School that is cosponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, District of San Francisco New Orleans and the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

POSITION TITLE: Transformative Coaching Initiative Coordinator
SUPERVISED BY: President and Principal
EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2024
FLSA STATUS: 20% FTE, Exempt or Non-Exempt. May be full-time if paired with other available role(s)
COMPENSATION: $13,925.2 0- $21,875.20 depending on experience

Transformative Leadership Coaching Initiative:

In alignment with the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) strategic plan, the Transformative Coaching Initiative will help the school attract, develop, and retain the most talented, innovative, and mission-driven teachers, staff, coaches, and moderators. The Initiative will provide an impetus for innovative and measurable professional development opportunities, especially for those who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and best and next practices in education and leadership. The aim is to create high impact programs and experiences for the students and educators entrusted to our care through a comprehensive coaching program designed in partnership with Jim Knight's Instructional Coaching Group and facilitated by SHC's Transformative Coaching Initiative Team.

Position Summary:
The Transformational Coaching Initiative Coordinator will facilitate the TCI Leadership Team meetings to ensure that the program is executed and will provide school leadership regular updates on the impact of the program and progress with the program's measurable objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Model for students the characteristics of a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic educator;

  • Promote SHC's mission, philosophy and Integral Student Outcomes;

  • A 2-year commitment to the role

  • Proficiency in Instructional Coaching

Leadership Team Facilitation and Coaching Support:

  • Coordinate and facilitate Leadership Team meetings for structuring coaching relationships throughout SHC

  • Support and provide information to the administrative leads for each area of the initiative (Teachers - AP for Academics; Athletic Coaches - Dean and Athletics Administrator; Staff - Director of Human Resources).

  • Work closely with and support the Implementation Team members for each area of the initiative (Teachers - Director of Learning Innovation; Athletic Coaches - Athletics Director; Staff - TBD)

  • Serve as a member of the Professional Learning Planning Team.

Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and report on data related to student learning, student athletic experience, faculty instructional practices and coaching instructional practices.

  • Develop and maintain a system for tracking and reporting on student progress and achievement over time that will inform the school leadership team on the effectiveness of instructional practices among coaches and teachers.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and interventions

  • Communicate to various stakeholders, including the Boards and key benefactors, about the initiative and its impact on teaching and learning both in the classroom and on the field/court.

  • Share learning, practices, and results with other Lasallian high schools throughout the District and the Region.

Coaching:

  • Attend ICG Institutes for comprehensive formal training

  • Support TCI Implementation Team members in guiding teachers, staff, and coaches in the critical examination of their teaching/leadership/coaching practices

  • Coordinate with TCI Leadership Team school initiatives such as alignment, cognitive skills, assessment, and teaching practices.

  • Serve as a coach annually to grow in practice and to model for other coaches

  • Be coached by an SHC instructional coach

  • Facilitate with video and other tools to gather data

  • Attend and contribute to weekly Instructional Coaching learning team meetings

  • Maintain confidentiality

  • Be coached by another SHC Instructional Coach, including the use of video recording and reviewing the material with the coach

  • Reflect on personal growth and needs

  • Actively seek out additional support

 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Leadership role requiring coordination and facilitation amongst various stakeholders.

  • Minimum four (4) years full time classroom teaching experience

  • Teaching credential/certification (or equivalent for Theology teachers)

  • Life long learner

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to be coached

  • Maintain confidentiality

  • Lasallian Vincentian Catholic mission-centered and mission-driven.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as coachee

  • Experience as an Instructional Coach

  • Experience in development and implementation of professional development activities.

  • Lasaillian or Vincentian formation, or formation within Catholic educational institution

Certifications and/or Licensure

  • Teacher Credential certification required (or equivalent for Theology teacher)
  • Attend Instructional Coaching training conference in Lawrence, KS by Aug 1, 2024

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master's Degree preferred
  • Must be familiar with California State Standards in the subject area in which you hold your credential
  • Must be familiar with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession
  • Must attend Instructional Coaching training conference in Lawrence, KS by Aug 1, 2024

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software applications, Google Suite; databases (such as a learning management system) and internet usage.
