Want to Make a Difference this Summer


The Houston SPCA is currently seeking a Manager for our Summer Critter Camp program for Campers entering 3rd grade through 8th grade on their campus. The weekly day camps will be held from June 3–August 2, 2024. Join us in making a difference this summer by introducing Campers into the world of animal welfare with a TEKs-approved curriculum, while we show them how to be Rescue Heroes for animals in their communities!

Primary Purpose

Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating Houston SPCA Summer Critter Camp.

Essential Functions of the Position

  • Oversee camp preparations and humane education curriculum for various age groups during the weekly camp sessions.
  • Manage and supervise camp staff, Interns and Critter Crew while providing day-to-day guidance and training to ensure all Campers experience a fun, safe and memorable experience.
  • Passionate and excited about leading a team with students who are eager to learn about animal welfare.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Professional demeanor with all on the Houston SPCA campus.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, or related discipline, preferred.
  • Must be a certified teacher with at least three years of classroom experience.
  • Ability to represent the Houston SPCA in a professional manner in all situations with the public, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships within the Houston SPCA camp as well as the campus.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs and procedures.
  • Able to drive, stand, bend, squat, walk, and talk for up to eight hours a day; able to lift up to 25 pounds.
