Power Systems Project Manager

Job Details: 

The successful Power Systems Project Manager will provide coordination, support, and services for projects consisting of applied engineering and technical support services for field service customer consultations such as acceptance testing, start-up, commissioning, breaker testing, QA/QC, non-destructive testing, power quality/systems analysis and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high voltage systems; advise customers via Power Systems Engineers that will provide best in class technical solutions to solve customer issues; complete assigned jobs with assistance from lead technicians and engineers; review and provide tests scripts, power system studies, and other deliverables, created by the engineers, as required to fulfill scope obligations. 

 

Additionally, all financial reporting on assigned projects as well as tracking and projecting of all labor, material, job expenses, and changes. This individual will also oversee monthly financial projections, creation of job specific schedule of values which maintains positive cash flow, and will create, submit, and manage all submittals throughout the entire project. This position requires the successful candidate to possess strong organizational, negotiation, financial, and communication skills. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Continuously improve personal, technical, and professional business skills enabling company to service products to customer's satisfaction through keeping current with product technology as measured by ability to troubleshoot and repair various products and to instruct others. 
  • Review and deliver to customers timely, detailed, and accurate reports on service work performed, product performance, and report recommendations on findings. 
  • Provide customers and inner company lines of business basic applications information via phone or on-site consultation. 
  • Coordinate and ensure participation from engineering in providing applied engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of power systems studies, design, installation, startup, maintenance, repair, and training. 
  • Management of projects and personnel to ensure job cost accountability of performed work is within budgeted cost estimates. 
  • Collaborate with engineering as they interpret specs and field customer inquiries and design technical proposals and pricing for customers. 
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, authorized vendors, other service organizations, and all inner company lines of business to assure customer satisfaction. 
  • Demonstrate safety consciousness in equipment handling, electrical and electronic procedures, and the unique situations encountered at diverse work sites. 
  • Demonstrate ability to work with various test equipment and proficient knowledge to evaluate over current protection devices, relays, and other pieces of electrical equipment. 
  • Perform job walks to aid in the creation of technical proposals and pricing for potential customers. 
  • Responsible for all financial reporting, tracking and projection of all labor, material, job expenses, and changes for each project assigned. 
  • Manage project information deliverables to ensure appropriate completion. 
  • Create and maintain a complete project budget using the technical proposals and pricing provided to customers. 
  • Monthly financial projections for each project assigned. 
  • Create a project specific schedule of values that will maintain positive cash flow 
  • All billing for each project assigned. 
  • Create, submit, and manage all deliverables required throughout the entire project. 
  • Maintain all submittal, drawing, correspondence, and change logs. 
  • Submit, review for added cost, file, and log all RFI’s 
  • Price, budget, track, sell, and collect all proposed changes. 
  • Purchase all materials per Prism SOP 
  • Schedule and track all material releases. Coordinate with a technician as needed. 
  • Track major deliveries to jobsites. 
  • Actively assist project technicians with all miscellaneous issues as necessary. (Material, information, special items, constructability, etc.) 
  • Assist technicians with production tracking for analysis. 
  • Jobsite visits and attend all project meetings as required. 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of three (4) years of experience as an electrical project manager and/or service manager
  • Understanding of the company's core values and services. 
  • Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical equipment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide service to all lines of business within the company and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction. 
  • Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings. 
  • Must maintain a valid and unrestricted driver's license. 

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • 8+ years of experience in the electrical field. 
  • Working knowledge with testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems is highly desirable. 
  • Working knowledge with performing power quality measurements, troubleshooting, and analysis are highly desirable. 
  • Working knowledge with power systems analysis to conduct short circuit/Arc Flash/Breaker coordination studies (including software applications of SKM) is highly desirable. 
  • Awareness of NFPA, IEEE and NETA testing standards and practices. 
  • Existing certification or equivalent skills/experience is desirable for testing procedures. 
  • NICET Electrical Power Testing Certification is highly desirable 
  • Working knowledge and experience in Commissioning and QA/QC practices of electrical distribution equipment is highly desirable. 
  • Possess understanding of installation and working knowledge of large UPS systems, Static Switches, PDU's is highly desirable 
  • Experience with power transformer testing is desirable - (Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.) 
  • Experience with cable testing is desirable - (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hi-Pot) 
  • Experience conducting Low, Medium, High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing is highly desirable 
  • Experience and working knowledge of lighting control systems is desirable. 
  • Proven people management, process management, and performance management skills 
  • Knowledge of financial software, accounting practices, change order pricing, and billings 
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work 
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong budget tracking, labor tracking, and scheduling skills 
  • Proficiency in information analyzation and budget setup
