JOB SUMMARY:

The Charging Interoperability Engineer will work to ensure that VinFast vehicles can charge at all major charging station operators across California and the country. This role will require in-depth knowledge of vehicle charging standard, EV power systems and CAN logging equipment. The engineer will be expected to perform interoperability tests with each new vehicle software release, each new vehicle platform release, VinFast companion application release, and any new charging related functionality. The engineer will perform the testing, gather related vehicle CAN data and work with Charge operators to gather CPO side logs. The engineer will stay current on charging standards and perform testing at industry test events to ensure our customers can always charge their vehicles with minimal interruptions or setup issues.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:

 

  • Develop and execute interoperability tests.
  • Troubleshoot interoperability issues on L1, L2, and DCFC
  • Analyze PLC charging communication data and vehicle CAN data
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with vehicle, charging, test security, and cloud teams on interoperability
  • Develop tools that help automate the charging interoperability testing
  • Report on charging interoperability status for each vehicle and software release
  • Participate at charging interoperability testing symposiums
  • Participate in SAE and charging consortiums

 

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of experience in electric vehicle charging, with a focus on charging systems, communication, and interoperability
  • Knowledge of Powertrain, Modern High Voltage EV power systems or ADAS systems
  • Knowledge of charging communication standards as described in J1772, DIN70121, ISO15118-2/-20, OCPP 1.6/2.0
  • Experience with CAN and PLC sniffing tools
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office
  • Performs well in an agile, fast-paced environment where things can change very quickly
  • Proficient with Wireshark, a plus
  • Experience with using issue tracking tools such as JIRA and fleet management software to identify vehicle system software versions or update success, a plus.
  • Valid Driving License
  • Travel up to 30%
