Community Initiative Coordinator 

Description

Accountabilities:

  • As a community manager, builds an action team membership while serving as the point of contact. Aligns interested community members/partners into the appropriate committees.
  • Upon request from the Health Department, share an updated contact list.
  • Communicates opportunities, progress/barriers, new data, and related community events to the Action team.
  • Summons the Action team to meet at least once a quarter.
  • Works closely with the committee leads to complete reporting for CHIP.
  • For each active strategy, quarterly entries are to be submitted.
  • Enlist appropriate organizations to serve as committee leaders.
  • Aids committees transition from the planning phase to the assessment phase.
  • Communicate progress listed in quarterly reporting submissions and discuss during check ins with Health Department.
  • Work with the Health Department to present annual CHIP progress update to the UG board of Commissioners.
  • Contributes in the raising of resources to support CHIP priorities, including fund raising, and grant writing. Communicate with the Health Department to discuss funding needs and when approaching funders to support CHIP activities.
  • Participate in media requests and community presentations related to CHIP.
  • Communicates with the Health Department about any media inquiries received about CHIP, in case the same media outlet/reporter is approaching multiple agencies and Health Department.
  • Engaged in the updating of the CHIP booklet, community health dashboard and other CHIP communication tools annually.
  • Participates in CHIP steering committee meetings and lead agency check ins.
  • Meet with CHIP coordinator or CHIP program supervisor as needed (at least every other month) to support training, planning, fundraising, coordination, and evaluation of CHIP strategies.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree plus 3 years related experience or MA/MS degree plus 1 year of related experience in Behavioral Health Services.
  • Ability to work on a team to ensure program goals are met, communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and is committed to personal and program growth.
  • Demonstrate clear, concise, professional writing and oral reporting skills.
  • Organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects, meeting deadlines and communicating updates appropriately.
  • Skilled at building relationships and partnerships with various community stakeholders from residents to national consultants.
  • Proven experience in community engagement and understanding of behavioral health strategies.
  • Strong proficiency in community organizing, facilitating collaborative efforts and developing and executing strategic plans.
