Coalition Coordinator  

Description

Richmond Behavioral Health (RBH) is now hiring for a dedicated and skilled Coalition Coordinator to join our Prevention Team. The selected individual will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with the Coalition. Performs intermediate skilled human support work implementing and assisting with the development and coordination of community based prevention services in the City of Richmond that include: education, information dissemination, community engagement/ activities, policy review and other environmental strategies to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors. Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Oversight for coalition activities and associated projects/ grant development
  • Coordinate and facilitate coalition meetings and communicate effectively with members to promote collaboration
  • Recruit and maintain a diverse coalition membership with local, state and national partners
  • Represent coalition through professional associations locally, statewide and nationally
  • Assist with needs assessment activities and protocols for testing effectiveness of coalition strategies
  • Supervise, mentor, and direct the work and activities of Youth Advisory Committee and students and assigned as temporary staff
  • Conduct community health planning activities (collect, manage, and analyze community health indicators data)
  • Assist coalition members in conducting strategic planning and guide coalition to develop a comprehensive action plan based on needs-assessment and strategic
  • Identify training, and workshops for coalition and community members
  • Develop and maintain content for the coalition website (marketing and media materials/ campaigns,
  • Continuously evaluate coalition effectiveness and coalition strategic plan
  • Document findings and progress of programs and activities in written quarterly reports to lead agency, other funding agencies, and coalition members
  • Manage and oversee expenditures of coalition budget (or contract).
  • Report and present coalition progress and program findings through publications and presentations at national meetings/conferences
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Some knowledge of community and Authority resources and programs of regional and State sources for the community service population; some knowledge of human development and behavior; some knowledge of prevention theories, principles and strategies for individuals, families, schools and communities, ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions; ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to prepare clear and concise reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with schools, elected officials, community organizations and partners, health care providers, associates and the general public.

Education and Experience

Masters’ degree or relevant experience in public health or related field such as health education, administration, policy/planning, community organizing; or bachelor’s degree and 5 years of appropriate experience in managing or coordinating a community-based, public health or voluntary health-related agency could be substituted for advanced degree At least 2 years of experience with organizing large groups of people, community organizing and experience in the public relations/marketing. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills preferred. Knowledge of the research process and highly proficient use of Microsoft Office and general computer skills strongly preferred.

Special Requirements

Valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Excellent organizational skills and computer usage skills, proficient in oral and written communication, knowledge of prevention theory, community engagement with multi- stressed communities/families and reading/understanding data.

This position also requires interaction with the public to represent RBHA in community meetings, boards/ tasks force, coalitions etc. Incumbent must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

Starting Salary Range 55,089.43
