Sr Aerospace Engineer 

Description
  • Providing experienced aerospace engineering support to the E-2D System Test and Engineering Lab (ESTEL), initially concentrating on enhancing the existing E-2D aero model which has been in existence for many years.   
  • Work with the current engineering team to incorporate new flight test, propulsion, and control systems data into the E-2D airframe, testing the airframe at Manned Flight Simulator, Patuxent Naval Air Station, utilizing an existing cockpit.
  • Identify aspects of the simulation that need enhancement, perform efficiency analysis of the airframe.
  • Test and evaluate the airframe via simulation sessions at Manned Flight Simulator to ensure behavior and performance characteristics are accurate.
  • Provide technical guidance towards the development, test, and optimization of the airframe performance.
  • Communicate with E-2D pilots regarding feedback on airframe and avionics performance.  Turn pilot feedback into enhancement of the E-2D simulation.
  • Eventually integrate the airframe into the new E-2D simulation lab at ESTEL, utilizing a new E-2D cockpit and simulation environment. 
 
Position Requirements
  • BS Degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in MATLAB / Simulink and other software development programming languages
  • Experience with C++ is desired
  • Familiarity with military cockpit systems and avionics
  • Foundational understanding of network protocols
  • Experience with airframe development
