Description

The Financial Health Educator’s primary role is the delivery of Valley First’s financial wellness programming. Responsibilities include presenting webinars and workshops utilizing Valley First Credit Union curriculum to key audiences, members, youth, employer groups, the community at large and Valley First employees. Also responsible for the development, design, and maintenance of financial education content. Working in collaboration with internal teams, creates, supports, and executes financial wellness initiatives and is the department expert on the promotion of digital campaigns. The Financial Health Educator works closely with the local community and support teams to deepen key partner relationships and deliver on the Valley First’s mission to help members improve their financial well-being, promote the credit union movement, and increase Valley First’s financial education footprint in the communities we serve. The Financial Health Educator is expected to consistently demonstrate and utilize effective communication skills, teaching strategies, and educational best practices to help develop and implement financial wellness programs.

  • Present financial education workshops and webinars through various methods including but not limited to public schools, administrative offices, youth clubs, community organizations, branches, trade shows, live webinars, on-demand videos to Valley First employees, along with youth and community organizations.
  • Develop, design, write, test, and evaluate financial wellness educational program content, webinars, and videos that enables Valley First to reach and improve current and prospective member’s financial well-being.
  • Assist with reviewing and performing content gap analysis to determine what type of content is missing and what is needed. Including managing the current inventory of all content created and utilized with the Financial Education team via multiple platforms such as PowerPoint, Video, Social, and other platforms.
  • Maintain reporting processes to measure financial education impact including assessing events/workshops to determine effectiveness and make informed recommendations about future of workshops and partnerships.
  • Maintain an understanding of the digital tools and resources in order to help assess, create, and recommend new approaches to assist Valley First in achieving its Financial Wellness goals.
  • Utilize a proactive approach to technology platforms, industry best practices, external networking, and alternative learning methods to continually evolve Financial Wellness content and activities.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for the expanded use of digital online financial educational platforms.
  • Support and enhance the development of current and future key relationships with non-profit organizations, educational institutions, employer groups and city officials to promote Valley First’s financial education programs.
  • Assist in identifying new leads and organizations that would benefit from Valley First’s Financial Education offerings.
  • Assist with the analysis of department marketing data and analytics to help identify trends and anticipate consumer needs and proactively provide recommendations for content creation.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of financial wellness and Valley First products and services.
  • Present a professional image of Valley First in the community and demonstrate behaviors consistent with the brand.
  • Represent Valley First Credit Union in the community and at community events as needed.
  • Shows the value of efforts by maintaining thorough documentation of all programs and tracking/reporting results, including quantitative and qualitative measures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

*This role will cover the Modesto market and surrounding areas. Must be willing and able to drive short distances to off site events and meetings. *

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three to five years of public speaking experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated success developing and presenting classroom-training programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with focus on building rapport and developing partnerships.
  • Working knowledge of web-based software and an understanding of HTML programming
  • Working knowledge of video editing software
  • Proficiency with desktop publishing tools
  • Strong PC skills (MS Office products).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Prior experience working in a financial institution preferred.
  • Ability to travel within and occasionally outside of Modesto area

Salary Range

  • This position is a Grade 11, with a salary range of $66,560.00 to $99,632.06
  • The anticipated pay rate for new hires is between the low-end and midpoint of the range, depending on experience
  • The pay rates listed above are based upon the geographic location of our Administrative Offices in Modesto, CA using the greater Central Valley area for our pay range calculations

Physical Requirements

  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; typing; viewing a computer screen and reading.
  • Climb/descend stairs in an emergency situation.
  • Operate routine office equipment including personal computers, copy machines, mobile and landline phones, calculator and others as needed.
  • Maintain working on a computer for six to eight hours daily, on average.
  • Work extended hours if required or requested by management.
  • Regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
