Early Intervention Professional- (Part-Time)

Richmond Behavioral Health is seeking a part-time Early Intervention Professional to support our Part C- Early Intervention Team under our Developmental Services Division.The incumbent primary responsibility is performing difficult professional work in a dual capacity providing service coordination and direct clinical service to clients involving determining eligibility, assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, providing prevention services, providing therapy, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. The incumbent will complete comprehensive documentation that meets regulatory, agency and reimbursement requirements. In carrying out the position requirements, the incumbent will maintain a positive working relationship with a variety of private providers, agencies, schools and professionals. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned the Program Supervisor. Work is conducted in a mobile mode away from RBHA offices/facilities out in the “field.” The work location is guided by the assigned tasks and must be approved by the Program Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with screening for eligibility of children referred to Part C for services and make recommendations for services based on clinical impression.
  • Conducts comprehensive developmental assessments and diagnostic impression upon admission for services within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Monitors and manages an assigned caseload.
  • Assists families in identifying goals and jointly prepare individualized family service plan (IFSP).
  • Assesses and monitors consumer needs and adjusts service plan accordingly.
  • Interfaces with other service providers and arranges for additional/alternative services if appropriate.
  • Provides individual or group therapy; implements IFSP; coordinates daily treatment schedule.
  • Provides crisis intervention and prevention services to individuals and families as needed.
  • Provides consultation, education and prevention services.
  • Conducts Service Coordination services as needed; coordinates and links client to community resources and medical services; interfaces with other service providers and client support system.
  • Documents and charts information about client assessment, progress notes, and Initial, 6-month, requested and annual IFSPs, discharge summaries and other client related data, correspondence, medical records, etc in accordance with regulatory compliance.
  • Maximizes reimbursement
  • Attends professional conferences and trainings as required.
  • Supervises student interns/ externs as needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties consistent with established policies and procedures.

 

 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of providing care to clients with developmental delays, atypical development, or a diagnosed disabling condition and their families; thorough knowledge of community resources and human services network; thorough knowledge of community-based behavioral health principles, coaching and trans disciplinary therapy techniques; thorough knowledge of the theories and techniques of the professionals specific discipline; thorough knowledge of developmental assessment techniques and procedures; ability to evaluate and screen clients; ability to prepare adequate records and to report findings and data effectively; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, community partners, medical personnel, law enforcement, State and Federal agency representatives and the general public.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in a discipline meeting qualifications as an Early Intervention Professional outlined in the Infant and Toddler Connection of Virginia’s Practice Manual.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working with young children with developmental delays.
  • Must have discipline specific licensure. Examples of specific licensure accepted include but are not limited to Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Early Childhood Special Educator, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and Speech-Language Pathologist

Special Requirements

  • Discipline specific licensure as outlined in Infant and Toddler Connection of Virginia’s Practice Manual.
  • Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Starting Salary Range $28.60
