Description

Summary of Responsibilities: Performs a wide range of facilities services tasks including non-technical maintenance of plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, and/or air conditioning facilities and equipment, at a level not requiring formal licensure. May be required to perform tasks of other unlicensed trades, such a lawn and turf or equipment operation.

 

Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)

  1. Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems, such as tubes, fixtures, switches, photocells, and outlets; assists electricians with non-technical repairs as appropriate.
  2. Operates lawn and turf equipment such as zero turn grass cutting tractors, weed whackers, push mowers.
  3. Campus trucking and delivery
  4. Monitors performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems for the facility; performs standard repair/replacement of components, as appropriate, and non-technical maintenance tasks such as cleaning of heating and cooling fan coil units and furnaces and adjustment of system controls.
  5. Monitors and performs non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, to include standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing water coolers, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems; assists plumber, as appropriate.
  6. Performs carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet, and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, and door and hardware installation, lock repairs, key making and room code changing.
  7. Paints interior and exterior finishes, as appropriate.
  8. May assist in maintaining water treatment and storage system.
  9. May perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks.
  10. May repair kitchen equipment.
  11. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  12. Documents facilities maintenance requirements and maintains appropriate records of work performed.
  13. Performs snow removal, as required.
  14. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  15. Supervision:
    1. Supervise student employees to include training, planning, assigning, and directing work, coaching, addressing complaints and resolving problems
    2. Must have a mindset of mentoring employees under supervision. Should be able to lead in a way that sets a good example, promotes teamwork, and encourages a positive, efficient work environment.

 

Secondary Responsibilities: (These are responsibilities that may be delegated in order to make reasonable accommodation for an employee).

  1. Records maintenance skills.
  2. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  3. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  4. Ability to repair and maintain appliances and heating and cooling equipment.
  5. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  6. Knowledge of one or more building trades.

  4. Lifestyle: The College considers adherence to the Bible’s teaching on life-style issues to be paramount to the College’s Christian witness. Job Requirements - Labor:

  1. General: Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed or are able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations in order to safely perform the essential responsibilities of the job.
  2. Physical: Should be able to perform the following and similar physical demands in completing work tasks: walking, climbing, stooping, reaching, pushing, feeling, crawling, crouching, lifting, pulling, standing, kneeling, carrying, handling, talking, hearing, seeing, sitting, fingering. Able to regularly lift up to 75lbs.
  3. Confidentiality: Individuals must recognize that management of data, including personal information, grades, budgets, programs, and policies is necessary to the operation of the College. Such information must be kept private and confidential for the protection of the College and to obey Federal and/or State laws. Should there be doubt as to whether a certain matter is to be protected, it should be discussed with your supervisor before making a disclosure.
  4. Mental: Must be able to reason, analyze, prioritize, conceptualize, make judgments, and solve problems.
  5. Valid current drivers license

 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum:
    1. Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED
    2. Experience: At least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
    3. Skill/Abilities:
      1. Performing a wide range of non-technical maintenance
      2. Monitoring performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems
      3. Repairing electrical fixtures, switches, and outlets
      4. Repairing leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed lines, replacing windows, painting
      5. Operation of lawn and turf equipment.
    4. Christian Commitment: eligible candidates must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to candidates who support and have an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. The individual must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
  2. Preferred:
    1. Education/Certification: Higher education in Facilities related courses
    2. Experience: 3 years of experience working in higher education
    3. Skill/Abilities: Skills obtained through working in a higher education setting
