Description

Position Summary

This is an individual contributor position responsible for performing most functions of the preventive and repair maintenance, basic electrical, electronic and mechanical work. Under minimal supervision, performs systems troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s manuals, diagrams, sketches etc. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs expert level break-fix & preventative maintenance. This includes but is not limited to: observing devises in operation to location root cause of problem; dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts; examining parts to detect imperfections; adjustment of functional parts of devices and control instruments; repair and/or replacement of defective parts; testing of device to observe performance; and performing tests for electrical circuitry and mechanical systems; reconditioning and repairing machine tools.
  • Identifies and sources parts, supplies and repair items as necessary. Performs evaluations of alternatives to improve cost and / or reliability of equipment.
  • Independently performs maintenance as per industry standards.
  • Works with Maintenance Planner to optimize preventative maintenance procedures.
  • May be required to setup and operate multiple machining operations including but not limited to: lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. May perform welding tasks.
  • Complies with 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Leads, drives and participates in CI activities--processes, results and cost savings using CI tools and methodology.
  • Provides assistance to lower level technicians and leadership to project teams. Performs expert functions as a part of training and development.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes complex control systems to resolve in-depth software/ hardware and configuration problems.
  • Utilizes predictive maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data. Observes trends and makes recommendations.
  • Completes and conducts on-the-job training and technical self-study programs for career development.
  • Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions and guidelines. Situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent

  • Mechanical mindset
  • 5 years’ experience in similar role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise reports that are understandable by the target audience
  • Experience in predictive technologies, precision alignments, and general maintenance of applicable process equipment.
  • Understands electrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems. Can analyze the problem, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs.
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate.
  • Experience in vibration analysis or laser interferometer operations, precision alignments, and maintenance of applicable process equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and escalate them when appropriate
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to draft clear and detailed manufacturing procedures
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment
  • Time management skills
  • Strong computer skills that include proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Dropbox
  • May be required to travel.

 

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English; bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • The individual possesses fine hand manipulation (keyboarding) skills.

  • This position works in a manufacturing setting.
  • Must be able to adapt to the noise level of a manufacturing setting, which is usually moderate to heavy.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, printer/scanner, and filing cabinets.
  • The temperature will vary from hot to cold, depending on the weather.

Schedule: Openings on both Monday- Friday 6am-2:30pm (1st shift) &  2pm-10:30pm (2nd Shift)

Pay Range: $28-40 per hour based on Mechanic levels A,B and C

Overtime and weekends are required as needed based on business demand. Peak season operations are January-May.
