Temporary Shipping/Receiving Associate 

Description

The Temporary Shipping/Receiving Associate position is responsible for quality control, receiving, processing and shipping of procurement orders. They may also assist in incoming/outgoing compound management orders as needed. IATA and DOT regulations must be followed and all orders must be processed according to company timelines, with all appropriate paperwork. This position involves contacting internal departments and carriers to resolve any delivery issues that may arise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

May include some or all of the following. Other additional duties may be assigned:

  • Receives incoming orders and assists in inventory control
  • Ensures proper handling with fragile chemical inventory
  • Tag and label new chemical compounds
  • Enter data in inventory/logistics software programs
  • Packs products in accordance with internal guidelines
  • Uses internal and FedEx integration software to generate packing lists and necessary shipment documentation
  • Handling of dry ice and dangerous goods, as needed based on order
  • Ensure quality control (QC) of all work (vial size, parafilm, labels and caps)
  • Ensure order paperwork (packing lists, etc) are included in all shipments
  • Ensure all required domestic and international customs paperwork are properly filled out and included with shipments
  • Ensure all required paperwork is properly filled out for dangerous goods according to IATA and DOT regulations
  • Verification of shipping addresses and contact information
  • Use tracking software to update orders with consumables used, tracking numbers and associated shipping costs
  • Communicates with internal teams on order status
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment
  • Maintains regular work schedule and is free from excessive absenteeism or tardiness
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements
  • Prior experience working in a receiving and shipping environment, warehouse or similar environment is an advantage.
  • Ability to understand metric formats and conversions necessary, as well as familiarity with general shipping methods for major carriers – FedEx, UPS, etc.
  • Excellent problem solving, collaborative and oral/written communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure and focus in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently and exhibit strong initiative. Must be able to retain information on projects.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • International shipping experience a plus.
  • Hazmat certifications in IATA and CFR49 required within 90 days of hire
  • Experience with shipping and receiving of dangerous goods or unknown pharmaceutical research compounds is a plus
  • Experience of general lab safety and chemical compliance is a plus

Compensation $18.00-$18.75
