Share Email Opening Apply Now Title Trial/Legal Unit Law Student Intern - Summer 2024 (Unpaid)  About the Organization The Children's Law Center (CLC) is a non-profit organization that represents children in custody, visitation, guardianship, paternity, family offense, and related child protective (abuse or neglect) proceedings in the Family Courts and the Integrated Domestic Violence Parts of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, and in appeals therefrom. CLC represents over 5,000 children annually in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, providing holistic and zealous representation and support in the Court, the community and the legislature. The mission of CLC is to provide children with a strong and effective voice in legal proceedings through providing outstanding legal and social work services.   Description CLC is seeking enthusiastic and competent Legal Intern to support the day-to-day activities of our Trial Unit. The goals of a CLC internship are to learn the areas of the law in which we practice, gain hands-on experience and provide assistance to CLC staff, but more importantly our clients. After an orientation and training the intern will be paired with a mentor and will receive close supervision and training. Some of the duties of a Trial/Legal Intern may include: Observation of court proceedings, witness interviews and conferences Digesting case records (school, medical, COI’s, forensic reports) Copying court files   Position Requirements Experience/Education Requirements LAW STUDENTS ONLY Position Requirements: The ideal intern applicant will have the following skills and abilities: Analytical and Logical Thinking Collaborative and Teamwork Spirit Adaptability and Flexibility Attention to Detail Effective Verbal and Written Communications Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software preferred.
