The UC Trainer will be responsible for the training of staff in CGS’ Unaccompanied Children’s Services Program. The trainings will include Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Onboarding, mandated ORR trainings and specialized trainings. The UC trainer will also assist in conducting targeted Foster parent trainings for the UC program foster parents.

Working under the purview of the Training Dept, with a team of trainers; and, working closely with the UC program leadership, the UC trainer will be responsible for developing training curriculum, tracking staff training compliance, and designing a training calendar, curriculum, that meets the needs of the children in the UC program, with special emphasis on addressing safety, trauma and wellbeing.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Implement within UC Program a philosophy of excellence in training and professional skill development, to encompass the training needs of all departmental staff;
  2. Provide and coordinate UC Program in-service training sessions for all UC staff in both residential and transitional foster care, through direct training and the utilization of available training opportunities offered internally through CGS and by professional service organizations and training consortia, commensurate with staff’s employment responsibilities and the needs of UC;
  3. Develop/implement training programs responsive to ORR regulations;
  4. Develop and document new training curricula based on changes in program operating procedures, policy, regulations, and strategic program initiatives for the UC programs;
  5. Monitor attendance at all training sessions, both internal and external to the agency through automated management information systems, for purposes of tracking ORR requirements, personnel needs, and fiscal reimbursement concerns. Regularly generate employee and facility-specific attendance reports for use as management tools to monitor staff’s compliance with training requirements;
  6. Keep abreast of/and utilize on a routine basis up-to-date training resources available, e.g. video tapes, manuals, sessions, space, lectures, etc.;
  7. Conduct annual staff training needs assessments, and develop and coordinate training sessions accordingly;
  8. Coordinate and provide monthly orientation for new employees in the UC Program;
  9. Provide annual trainings to foster parents as needed;
  10. Any other responsibilities as deemed necessary.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and three years experience in training and/or UC programs to be considered in lieu of Master’s.
  • At least three years of employment experience in relevant field
  • Knowledge of child welfare/child protective services
  • Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills
  • Current and thorough working knowledge of regulations effecting UC’s
  • Ability to travel to New York City communities
  • Effective communicator with excellent writing and speaking skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Possession of, valid driver’s license, and safe driving record
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Proficient in Spanish required

Salary $60,000 - $65,000
