The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Academy Museum is seeking a talented and experienced digital marketing professional to grow and maintain the museum's email communications and database. You will implement strategies and produce original content to promote the museum as well as attract new and repeat visitors. Candidates for this role should have experience defining and achieving goals that lead to higher subscriber growth and retention, increased web traffic, and increased museum/program attendance.

You Will:

  • Produce all email campaigns, including gathering messaging points and working with the marketing editorial and creative services to produce templates, routing for approvals, and scheduling supporting museum programming, events, advancement/membership, exhibitions, retail, and special announcements.
  • Manage the email content calendar to ensure alignment with museum priorities while mitigating frequency between various campaigns to retain audience interest and engagement.
  • Identify trends and email marketing strategies to glean insights on best practices and new ideas for marketing tactics.
  • Devise and perform A/B testing to advise on improvement to the effectiveness of current email outreach strategies.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly performance reports that include but are not limited to open, clicks, bounce, and unsubscribe rates; collect and translate data into actionable insights to optimize current email strategy.
  • Develop and implement strategies for retargeting email subscribers through tailored email communications by working closely with IT on audience segmentation and journeys.
  • Work in conjunction with the Database & Evaluation Specialist and IT to conduct museum audience surveys through email and post-event surveys as needed.
  • Communicate various campaign details effectively to key stakeholders and leadership at varying levels of digital media knowledge.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4+ years of digital experience (web, social media, and/or email marketing).
  • Demonstrated understanding of marketing strategies and developing guidelines.
  • Experience working with Salesforce and Marketing Cloud for email campaign development and deployment.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred.

The expected base salary range for this role is $70,000 to $75,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
