We are seeking a Substitute Coordinator for the 2023-2024 school year. The Substitute Coordinator is responsible for training, managing, and scheduling substitute teachers. 1 Peter 4:10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. 1 Corinthians 9:19a For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant of all.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be the first point of contact for teacher absences.
  • Manage a pool of substitute teachers.
  • Work with the Human Resources to train substitute teachers.
  • Communicate with substitute teachers regularly to schedule various teaching jobs. Supply substitute teachers with supplies necessary for the day (room key, timecard, room assignment). Refer subs to the office with questions throughout the day.
  • Track substitute teachers: maintain spreadsheet for teacher absences and coverage, verify substitute hours for payroll, and work with Human Resources to ensure accuracy of leave reports and substitute pay.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to respond to work situations.
  • Be on-call for last minute teacher absences. Be able to drop what you are doing if a higher priority arises.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with students, colleagues, parents, and administrators.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team, exercising reasonable judgement, in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills, while maintaining courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude.
  • Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work under constantly changing conditions a must.
  • Proficiency in all related computer applications, including Microsoft Office programs, email, internet, and Google Drive/Docs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing using electronic communications.

The candidate must be a professing and maturing Christian enthusiastically supporting SCA's statement of faith and mission statement. A bachelor's or associate degree in education, or a related field from an accredited college is preferred. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement. In addition, the position requires the ability to organize and prioritize work, resolve problems, follow through, and manage multiple priorities to ensure that goals are met. Strong technology skills are required.

Requirements:

SCA conducts pre-employment screening and drug screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications.

  • Understand the ministerial function of their role as described in the SCA Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Attain an ACSI 2-year Temporary certificate within the first two years of employment.
