POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Aftercare Supervisor, the Part-Time Aftercare Aide supports the school's after-school program by ensuring the safety, supervision, and engagement of students from 5 to 5th grade during the aftercare hours.
This person shall be spiritually mature and shall reflect the purpose of the school, which is always to honor Christ. SCA hires with a focus first on Christ, together with character, competence, and chemistry with our community. This job description is not all-encompassing, and SCA is seeking an individual who can conduct these responsibilities with a spirit of love, compassion, customer service, and partnership with leadership.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience & Skills:
- Experience working with children ages 5 – 5th grade preferred.
- Previous experience in a K-12 Christian education setting preferred.
- A love for children and the ability to relate to and meet the energy levels of young children in a positive, nurturing manner is required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Diplomacy and professionalism in relating to children and parents is required.
- Organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and to manage multiple tasks are needed.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work inside or outside in diverse weather conditions.
- Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help prepare and organize activities for afterschool program.
- Assist with arrival and check out of students.
- Assist students with individual homework when needed.
- Manage aftercare room supplies.
- Aid in maintaining discipline and order.
- Supervise playground and outdoor activities.
- Supervise during students’ restroom breaks.
- Prepare, distribute and assist in cleanup of snacks.
- Assist with classroom cleanup throughout shift.
- Maintain a safe environment at all times.
