Share Email Opening Title Lead DevOps Engineer   Description U.S. News & World Report is looking for a full-time Lead DevOps Engineer to manage a team of engineers to help improve the reliability, security, usability, maintainability and performance of our cloud infrastructure. You will be managing all aspects of our production applications, development environments and the CICD implementation. The DevOps team works almost exclusively within cloud-based infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) in conjunction with other software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms. Our applications support just about every aspect of company operations, including content management for the usnews.com website, data ranking products such as Best Colleges/Grad schools and Best Hospitals, and other business applications. We offer a casual, flexible, hybrid-remote work environment. Our offices in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Responsibilities: Lead a team of devops engineers using scrum best practices and clearly communicating deliverables to upper management Oversee all cloud resources needed by the company including their security, compliance, monitoring, utilization and performance Improve site performance at the origin & CDN level Respond to production issues 24x7 on call rotation Control expenditures of technologies used Support the development lifecycle and deployment of multiple technology teams in the company Transform Deliverables into actionable items for the devops team and prioritize them     Position Requirements Required Qualifications: At least 3 years leading a team of DevOps engineers At least 8 years working in a development, operations, or similar support role At least 4 years of experience working with Linux based systems (e.g. Debian, CentOS, RHEL) At least 3 years maintaining public cloud production-ready workloads (AWS, GCP, Azure) At least 3 years designing and implementing cloud migrations (AWS, GCP, Azure) At least 3 years of experience working with a programming language (Python, Java, Javascript/Node.js, Ruby) Desired Qualifications: Cloud Professional certification (AWS, GCP, Azure) Agile methodology experience Infrastructure as code (e.g. CloudFormation, Terraform) CI and orchestration systems (e.g. Jenkins) Containerization & Orchestration experience (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, ECS) Configuration Management Experience (e.g. Puppet, Chef, Docker) Strong oral and written communications skills What it’s like to work with us: Talent is our best asset!  We invest in people with passion and potential who understand U.S. News’ dedication to our consumers.  Entrepreneurial, mission-driven culture with core values of quality and integrity Focus on fostering personal and professional growth Competitive benefits including paid vacation time, medical, tuition reimbursement, and training Collaborative Work Environment ~ Fun, diverse, inclusive and ambitious co-workers Other Job Info: These statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job.
