Description

The Grant Development Specialist is responsible for the performance, management, and application of all electric vehicle government incentives in both Canada and the United States. This position oversees interconnection between VinFast’s Government Relations Department and the Charging Department. This position specifically oversees the application and operational management of the government incentives and grant programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Oversees the application and approval processes for government funded incentives in both the United States and Canada for electric vehicle charging including programs such a NEVI, ZEVIP, LCFS, iZEV, etc.
  • Maintains a database of all current government applications, documents and associated responses while providing status updates.
  • Aligns the Charging and Government Relations teams to ensure current activities are best utilizing programs offered by local, municipal, state, provincial and federal Governments.
  • Maintains customer facing website that displays all customer applicable electric vehicle incentives.
  • Oversees applications for relevant incentive programs offered by utility companies, US Department of Transportation, Agriculture and Department of Energy.
  • Works with Policy and Compliance teams to understand operational impacts to EV charging business areas.
  • Identifies, tracks, reviews, and leads program qualifications with Business Managers to collaboratively build Go-to-Market application efforts for US and Canada federal, provincial, state grant and rebate opportunities.
  • Supports project development process to help identify and explain potential incentive opportunities as well as key regulatory factors that will affect the project.
  • Aligns with the Home Charging, Public Charging, and Commercial Charging Infrastructure Market Managers to identify ways to minimize CAPEX or OPEX and transition customers to VinFast EVs.
  • Responsible for the execution of Go-to-Market activities to secure grant and rebate funds for VinFast Charging.
  • Leads and communicates with internal cross functional teams, as well as consultants involved in supporting the development of grant proposals and applications.
  • Identifies and prepares proposals in response to federal, state, and regional funding opportunities.
  • Coordinates transition of grant awards to implementation team and works collaboratively to ensure compliance with program requirements.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors’ Degree required
  • Experience working with state or regional government agencies, preparing applications for grant funding, and working cross functionally within an organization
  • 3+ years of experience in project management
  • Experience in writing, managing and/or implementing grant awards from within a business setting or as a consultant including narrative, technical and budget development skills
  • Experience complying with reporting and record-keeping requirements associated with government grants and incentives
  • 3+ years of experience in research, development and/or grant writing
  • Prior experience in the EV market or other clean energy sectors (solar, batteries, energy efficiency, wind, etc.)
  • Highly organized and able to track multiple projects at once
  • Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals
  • Strong copywriting skills including proofreading and style consistency
  • Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven
  • Clear, precise, and compelling writing skills
  • Able to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • High proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional team player, as well as being a self-motivated individual contributor
  • Must possess strong planning, interpersonal, decision making, problem-solving, and financial skills
  • Development and proposal experience from non-profit and non-governmental organizations welcomed
